What is the steps one takes when they buy a used Maverick from someone and that owner was using the FordPass app. Could the previous owner continue to have the app and start your Maverick from anywhere or unlock your doors?
I assume when you sell your Maverick you would deregister your user id but could someone possibly not do that and be a dick and gain access to your vehicle?
Maybe something to put on your checklist when shopping for a used Maverick?

Just perform a master reset and you'll be alright

Assuming you have already connected the app to your truck, you can also go to Settings/Vehicle Access and change who is "invited" to access your Maverick.

When I bought mine used, I did that, and manually deleted any previous Bluetooth pairings...

...oh, and I also removed the unrequested LoJack device the dealer had installed in the truck when new. :curse:

I would consider resetting it yourself before giving up ownership. As I would a cell phone, computer, etc. (No offense, just a suggestion for anyone letting go of any device that requires a log in.)

Yep, yep yep.

I figured out well after I had done a lot of customization to my used Mav that in order to set my home address on the native navigation, I would have to reset it in order to kick the previous owner out. I drove halfway to Michigan before I realized that I hadn't reset the home address.

I do that with the Touchtunes juke box when I'm not at the establishment that has the box. I'll pick Beer Barrel Polka or something like that. Only thing is that folks in Minnesota actually like that song 🍻

This could have serious issues. I know if a previous owner did start my truck remotely, it will time out and shut off, but it could be repeated again and again. My truck is in an attached garage. Could be a carbon monoxide concern. Also, be sure to keep your kids and others away from your app/phone and remote starter from playing around. You could be in the middle of an oil change, and , well you get the idea.

One of my previous FORD vehicles was traded in - I did a master reset and the vehicle showed that it was not on FORD PASS and my FORD PASS app no longer showed it. However, about 18 months later I saw a withdrawal from my points that I couldn't explain. To my surprise, the owner of the vehicle I had traded in had had some service done and paid for it with points from MY FORD PASS account. I was finally able to track down that the dealer is in Florida - I live in Ohio. It took about a month of hashing out the situation with FORD and with the dealer service manager to finally get my points back. For what it's worth, keep an eye on your FORD PASS account as the access seems to be a little loosey-goosey.
