Well, I guess this means Ford won't be hiring any new, hopefully actually competent, engineers to solve the Maverick's deep sleep problem.

I wonder how much of this loss is related to the massive number of recalls this year, not only on the Maverick but several other Ford vehicles since a lot of the parts that are being replaced are made out of country.

Good point. Q2 recalls were industry records. Ford may blame it on tariffs to divert attention away from recalls - but they brought those on themselves too.

Well, to be fair to Ford, US Car Buyers wanting low price vehicles without focusing as much in on quality are really to “blame” for the recalls & tariffs.

Not surprised. imo ford has had and still does have their share of internal quality issues. Add to that the quality issues of outside sources provided by the "lowest bidder" from the foreign suppliers. Hard to control that unless there's lot of penalties provisioned in the contract and the supplier actually cares. Regardless, at the end of the day, ford's face and pocketbook is the one that gets smeared. Maybe one day they will wake up and realize what they all gave away years ago to the foreign suppliers/countries to save a dollar and make wall street happy needs to come back to the U.S. for production for some decent quality control capabilities. that just my opinion and 2 cents on the matter, opinions may vary, that's fine. we all have one - as it should be.

Not exactly on topic, but Ford has been advertising their big sale event on local TV.
Interesting to note when they show the Ford line up....there's no Maverick in the picture.
Why is this?
Speculation: They can't get enough of them to sell - supply and demand?

Wow, i don't see where "tariffs" can have anything to do with quality controls or recalls. It's just ford or whoever's excuse to throw blame towards something they don't like or is an easy escape goat. that's my opinion and 2 cents. They need to make up their minds which side of the mouth they (ford, GM, etc.) talk out of, one day they are praising them for evening the playing field, the next day they are blaming them for all their problems. Go figure.

🍿

Tariffs you say?
Don’t blame me - I actually voted for the tariffs. That said, the Mexican Presidente seems sharp & capable of working with our Prez. Ford’s Canadian suppliers are screwed though:)

Now we know why the Maverick prices are climbing so high. It will soon slow the demand and that will give the other manufacturers time to get a mini truck on the market.
Ford should move manufacturing back into the 48 states and hammer production like we did when we built B-17’s and P51’s
Flood the market with these pick ups at 2022 prices.
Ford would sell a shit ton of vehicles.
And the executives at the top would still have plenty of money to buy big boy toys.

Beef ! It’s what’s for supper,
Ford, it’s what we drive !
Run the Chinese cars out of the country.

Are any of the new mini trucks to compete with the Maverick built in the USA? Until they are, it will be hard for them to compete with the Maverick on price…

No, it's because every time they get caught up with manufacturing them they have to put a "stop sell" on them because some new defect was discovered.
