Happy to say my FWD hybrid Maverick pulled this like a champ. Its a bit over 1,600lbs empty so will be going light on gear and not filling water tank to tow.

Thanks for the tip. The camground we're going to first has a level site and is a pull-through site also.Be cautious if you pull into a camp ground or anywhere with gravel and a grade.
If you loose traction and stop on a grade, even a slight one on gravel you may not be able to back down. Front end goes light and no rear wheel power. Be careful !
A good reason to get a AWD Mav...Be cautious if you pull into a camp ground or anywhere with gravel and a grade.

For sure. mostly sticking to 60mph maybe 65 tops. Less where hills are involved as necessary to try and stay below 50% power as much as I can. On long, flat runs I switch out of tow-haul mode and flip on cruise for a minute or two to give the generator a breather and to stretch and exercise my right leg a bit too.We pull an Aliner weighing 1550 from Phoenix to Cottonwood and my Lariat hybrid handles it very well. I think you will be fine, just watch your speed.
I have the opposite concern!Be cautious if you pull into a camp ground or anywhere with gravel and a grade.

Hum, 12% grade sounds like a risky road design, plus gravel and switchbacks and 3K pushing ya, anyways, ya may wanta go ahead and call the first responders Before your decent downI have the opposite concern!
I am about to purchase a Catalina Summit 154RBX (3,000lbs dry). I know the Maverick can get it UP to my mountain property but I am quite certain the Maverick can't bring it back down a 12% graade on gravel and sharp switchbacks.
My "hold my beer" buddy and I agree attempting to do it will result me in totaling the Maverick and the camper.

. Have fun and be careful out there! That Catalina is a really nice trailer!!
If it has trailer brakes ? You’d be ok right ?I have the opposite concern!

I tow for hours on end with cruise on.For sure. mostly sticking to 60mph maybe 65 tops. Less where hills are involved as necessary to try and stay below 50% power as much as I can. With my brake controller the Maverick doesn't really feel the trailer back there.Us crazy folks who want to live on top of mountains!!
It’s unlikely I’ll ever try to do it with the Maverick, but I’ll be seeing how good trailer brakes are and how decent I can control it with the brake controller
Thakks but it really won’t be fine and not by a wide margin. With my brake controller the Maverick doesn't really feel the trailer back there.
Are you able to adjust and perfect the gain?
At a slow (10 mph) speed you should be able to lock up the trailer wheels with high gain. Then back it down a notch and try again. Keep going until the wheels brake heavily but do not lock up.
This gain value will be different on gravel vs. pavement.
The gain value will be different loaded vs. unloaded.
The gain value will be different from trailer to trailer.
I really think it will be fine by wide margin. But start slow if you're not confident.
