I've tried 'em all-just like you. My '22 said "finally" today my wife handed me a bottle and said "try this" (Pledge Revitalizing Oil).

Worked pretty good, granted I take care of my stuff but go to junkyard once a week and pull parts.

I use just a little bit (rub, rub, rub)and a lot of the light scrapes go away-the hard ones ain't goin nowhere (see seatbelt pillar).

Good Luck!

Well, that's good to know. I'll have to consider this. The brittle plastic drives me crazy! My b-pillars are the worst hit areas, despite retracting the belt gently.

Thanks for the post, and good to know. I wonder if the plastic restore products for sun damage might also work. I'll have to try them.

The quality of the plastic is really sub-par. As for the B pillars and some other oft-damage areas, I may consider Tolex later on (the material used on guitar amps). It comes in literally hundreds of colors and textures. I'm surprised it isn't used as material in cars more often. MAybe snake skin would be a good accent for the interior...

I've used mineral oil to "revitalize" plastic surfaces like this. Excess oil can be wiped away with a dry cloth.

And bourbon :)
Tequila here!

I just don't worry about it. If they made door openings large enough for actual people instead of tiny engineers, it would solve most of the problems.

I imagine this Pledge has some oily residue in it too.
Would you avoid the dash area material with it for the potential "cooking effect"?

That's a good point, and probably should be avoided. I don't believe I've ever used it on a dashboard, as that's not typically where I'm going to scuff the plastic. Typically I would use it around doorsills, scuffs from seatbelts, etc.

Don't oils tend to break down plastics over time? For example, sunscreen really screws up some surfaces after a while
