🤔 The OEM filter is a regular filter size for a Maverick?
Correction
Ford doesn't install a smaller filter just for production. If I'm wrong.
I am wrong
I would sure like to see a side-by-side picture comparison.
and here is the picture proof👇👇

Yes. The Oil weight is 0w20 as stated in at least two places. Your manual and if you forget or don't feel like referring to the manual. Open the hood, it's on the oil cap👍

My 23 owner's manual states Full Synthetic for the hybrid 2.5

For multiple reasons, the ecoboost & Hybrid have different oil change intervals.
Ford recommends going according to the Smart oil life monitor in most cases. In our customers vehicles I've seen it tell them to change it form 3,000 ( rare) to 10,000 (somewhat rare) most of the time it's between 6000-8,000 miles.

I am looking forward to doing some oil samples to see how the Hybrid deals with condensation and fuel dilution since it doesn't run consistently or get that warm. The OLM knows how long it has run, what the temps were, how many cycles the injectors have fired etc. It is working from actual data that matters when timing those oil changes.

Nothing wrong with that. But the oil life monitor takes engine temp, run time. Etc into into account and extrapolates to determine oil condition. Given that hybrid power trains tend to last longer seems to indicate that the oil life monitor tends to do a good job. It won't hurt to check as a matter of curiosity. But I don't think we need to overthink it.

The main difference between Hybrid & EcoBoost is the engine run time.

10,000 miles on a Hybrid Maverick with a 3,000 miles Electric is 7,000 engine miles.
10,000 miles on an EcoBoost Maverick is 10,000 engine miles.

I think you might find a 3-jaw oil filter wrench like this $13 one from Amazon to be pretty handy. It will reach in there and give you all the grab you need even if your fingers are oily. It takes a standard 3/8" square drive and comes with a 1/2" adapter as shown here.

A while back I bought a dozen FL910S oil filters from Rock Auto on sale. I see they're $6 each today, or $.50 off if you buy a dozen (shipping is extra). I like Wix filters like the WIX 51348XP too. So far, I've been using Mobil 1 (0W-20) from Costco but I see that Mobil has introduced a version of this for hybrids, so I would opt for that if you can find it. Short trips around town in your hybrid will not get the engine hot enough to burn off all the condensate and fuel dilution, so the HYBRID 0W-20 should help mitigate problems from that.
At the risk of offending you, I should mention that you always need to account for the old filter's O-ring so you never forget to remove it. That's a blown engine at worst, and a mess at the least. When you're done changing the oil, if you want to start the engine to do an idle leak check (as you should) just leave it in park and stomp on the accelerator. It took me over a year to learn that trick, and the service writers at the dealership didn't know about it.

I agree. Even the owners manual mentions that the oil life monitor on the Hybrid may go past 10,000 miles depending on the driving conditions . If I only go to work, I do approx 15 miles at 55 or below and 20 at about 75mph. My additional driving is a mixture as well. But mostly below 50 with some city driving. This month I drove 3216 total miles with 975 of those being electric. My total vehicle miles is 6767. Although I'll probably change the oil within the next week since it's the first oil change, my oil life monitor says I have 48% left. I think it's pretty accurate based on my driving mix and habits.

So on the 2.0 EB do You think the 5,000 mile mark is to long for the first oil change,Thanks

To be honest, no because if it was, Ford would recommend an early first oil change in order to be sure their engines don't fail within the 60,000 mi warranty. But most of us old heads can't force ourselves to go the full time on the first oil change because we grew up during the 3,000 mile times . Some of us even remember the 500 MI first oil change to get rid of the break-in oil. Old habits die hard. Besides, we aren't hurting anything by changing it early. If it eases our mind, then why not? But no it's not NECESSARY to perform the first oil change early , it just puts our time-seasoned minds at ease 😅
