Toyota confirmed they planned to bring a small pickup, it's just a matter of what and when. For Subaru, anything other than a Baja would be a travesty.

I will dump Ford in a second for a Toyota or Subaru truck.
I had a Baja and loved it. With it's little trap door I was able to transport 2x4x8s easier than with the Maverick.

THIS!!!
I had 3 Tacoma's before the Maverick. Ive done 2 software recalls and last Friday my Hybrid Mav gave me a "battery saver mode" notification. Just got it back from the dealer today and Service advisor told me the BMS was never reset and that it was throwing codes, and a software update was not complete.

Anyway, I just dont feel good carrying a jump starter with me when the truck is only a year old. I shouldnt have to think that if I travel and leave the truck at the airport parking lot for days, that the truck might not start.

I love the Mav's 38-40 mpg vs the Tacoma's 16-18 mpg. The tacoma's other than the free oil changes that Toyota gave, I dont think they went to get any warranty or recall work.
Really just hoping Toyota will come out with one.

The details seem pretty sketchy, but here is the rumor that is floating... Toyota and Subaru teaming up on this "money printing machine". LOL
https://www.torquenews.com/17992/to...ormula-and-it-will-likely-arrive-us#webview=1
Toyota, and Subaru have a lot of nice vehicles even trucks but will they make it to the USA?
The trucks cannot arrive on our shores fully built. There is a law against that. They arrive as a kit and be assembled here like the Cortina truck was.
They will be rolling the ball up hill to get them approved. There is talk of a tax on hybrids and electric vehicles to help keep the fossil fuel industry from losing business.
It won’t happen however I am trying to convince my wife to get a Subaru Forester with a hybrid engine. They are probably already sold out.
After owning my maverick I am sold out of the hybrid engine.
We just drove over 400 miles on a trip and averaged 39 miles per gallon. My wife did the driving and was exceedingly the speed limit the entire time.

Where the hell do people like you come up with this shit?
There a tax credit right now and they can't sell them.

I wouldn't doubt that eventually states will have some annual fee/tax, but if you didn't see that coming you're moron. A portion of tax on fuel goes to infrastructure. If you're wearing out that infrastructure in an electric vehicle, it's only fair you pay your fair share.

States ALREADY do. I pay extra registration on my ecoboost because it is over the 24 mpg combined limit. The NEW tax bill has a $100 per year federal tax on hybrids in it. Read a newspaper!https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/proposed-federal-yearly-fee-for-hybrids.67439/
You're all over the place.
Say a tax is coming for hybrid/electric to help the fossil fuel industry- like the gov is going to tax people and give it to an oil company.

Then say you pay extra reg fees on an Ecoboost which is neither hybrid or electric.

We've been getting those notices for 2+ years, truck has started every time. Started after a couple weeks of sitting. Haven't bothered the dealer with it, still on original batteries. The 12v battery just runs the computers, the starter in the hybrid is the electric motor run by the High Voltage Battery.

The hybrid is the way to go for now and the immediate future.
With summer heating up and brown-outs in the forecast - where are we going to get the electric power to support all these EVs?

Zero point energy is still fiction and a long way off from reality (baring some kind of alien/UFO break through if that even exists).

I'm wondering why everyone is talking about trading there Maverick for something else? At first we couldn't wait for our affordable under $25K truck to own. We all have a truck that's only a few years old, and doesn't need replacing for at least 5 years. It will cost you more then you think to switch for a new vehicle, between trade in value, and the prices new to the market trucks, with the problems new vehicles need to face. Now that the Mavericks have been around for a few years, less recalls are being sent out. Chill out, and enjoy one of your best deals in the last few years.

You have to follow what is going on with the grid. It is the hot spot not because of EVs specifically, but because everyone is building out massive AI data centers that suck down more juice than most people can imagine. It is the gold rush at the moment between AI build out and grid build out. Infrastructure is the play at the moment. EVs look like chump change on the grid compared to the rest of it.

Yep👍
Look at the SWITCH DATA Complexes. The one in Las Vegas keeps growing.
They suck down huge amounts of energy.

Subaru already failed with their small trucks twice. Why now? Toyota had small trucks but they did not keep making them.
Subaru Baja would have done much better if it was released when the Santa Cruz was. Timing is everything.

I liked the Subaru truck but did not wind up getting one rather bought a used LUV which is actually a Isuzu. That was years ago. Now i only want a 4 door truck so Maverick.

It will be interesting to see what new products automakers actually do launch. Between the tariff situation, EV tax credit likely going away, and much of the world being flooded with cheap Chinese EVs, I don't think they will invest much outside what they can assemble in existing American factories that won't require huge investments to re-tool.
The majority of the EV tax credits were obliterated by the IRA in 22, guess the current administration will clean up the other 5 %.
