Hello MTC Nation: did you buy a completely base/no options $20k 2022 XL Hybrid? If so, how has the value been for you? I would do it again. Or not a good decision.

"No options" made no sense when a factory-installed trailer hitch receiver was only $100.

I did wonder if it was a luxury to supersize the spare tire ($115 and it's still not "full size") but then I had occasion to use it, twice.

In total: $215 over base price. Yes, I'd do it again.

Like THIS WAS, I only added the trailer hitch. My was base a total of $20,095.00. No financing-cash out the door after a trade in. (Dealer added things I didn't authorize to make some money but that's a different thread!)
For me its been great. The best feature for me is the fuel savings. Best run was 550 miles on 1 tank. It was all local driving-errands etc. That is why I purchased it.
I expected recalls, issues etc on a first year production vehicle, so the recalls and Customer Satisfaction campaigns so far have been minor for me.
Bottom line: Value wise: best 20K I have ever spent. And yes, I would do it again.

Nobody actually bought a $20k Maverick (without a/z/x plan and farm bureau discount) because it came with $1,495 destination charge.

So the 2022 XL Maverick started at $21,490.

Assuming a modest trade in value ($15k) after tax, title, and doc fees a no option Maverick weighed in around $22k.

Still an incredible value but I challenge any member to show me an invoice or bill of sale without a discount that has them under $20k

I don't know why it's so hard for folks to understand. You could buy a Ford Maverick for $19,995. That's not what you're going to end up paying. It's like trying to explain to little kids wanting buying $1.50 soft drinks in a Glass bottle. Once tax and a bottle deposit is added they aren't going to walk out of the store with the drink by giving the clerk a $1.50.
Negotiations aside.
In 1970 you could buy the original Maverick for $1,995 Yes that that is what you bought it for. That's NOT what you were going to pay for it.
There are ancillary fees attached to almost any product you buy. Transportation charge, sales tax, registration..etc

The above Maverick was Bought for $19,995.

Bought a 22XL from Granger in Dec of 22. Not a no option truck (awd 4k) but out the door for $22k (plus 0% for 36mos) was a great deal. Current Carvana offer is $25k so yes I would do it again.

Your vehicle is the ultimate Mav value story. Loading them up trim level and options takes away the value proposition. Great decision and good to hear it’s holding up.

In New Hampshire-- tell the kids you CAN buy a $1.50 coke for a $1.50. No bottle deposit, No Sales Tax, No income tax.. Live Free or Die...

There are hotel-motel taxes and prepared food taxes, but that is only because Mass-holes like to come and buy- liquor, fireworks , smokes and tattoo's up there.. Also a few toll roads..

Glen, you don't buy something without paying for it. They are one in the same. The destination charge was unavoidable from Ford. The Mavericks sitting on the lot - with their total purchase price - started at $21,490. MSRP = $21,490. That is what you paid and bought it for plus any of the tax, title, doc fees - those ancillary fees.

Destination charge is not ancillary - it is included in the Manufactured Suggested Retail Price - it could not be removed or negotiated.

$19,995 was purely for marketing from Ford.

I did do it again... Bought a second XL Hybrid (originally for my wife, but we sold it to my daughter) and a XLT Hybrid for my son.

I did not like the CVT that comes with the Hybrid. So, I sold it less than 30 days after receiving it, and when I placed an order for a 23 XLT EB AWD.

I would choose the EB AWD with the 4K Tow package again if a Maverick were to work for me. Alas, I decided the 23 XLT EB AWD didn't work for me and sold it two months ago. My daughter and son still have theirs and love them.

FWIW, it is not a conventional CVT - it is an eCVT. A very different animal from a CVT. No belts, no pulleys. And with 2/3 less moving parts, will likely far outlast the conventional transaxle in an ecoboost. Toyota has been proving that in the Prius, since 1997.

Besides incredible gas mileage, the eCVT is my favorite feature of the Hybrid Maverick. Completely smooth with no schizo shifts - because it doesn't have to shift.

Happened to me too. I told myself I was getting the $20k version with ONLY a $100 trailer hitch, even had color picked out, black. When came time to order I ended up with 2023 XLT BAP LUX and paid extra for Alto Blue! so much for $20k
