$28,145 yes.
If I have to pay it, and it is required for me to buy it, then the real price includes shipping. Again 30k starting price, and back to my earlier statement. That is not an indication of the health of the auto industry as a whole when base price is 30k. Ford claims just this week the next truck will be competitive with the Chinese. Let's see.

This is 2025. If you can buy another pickup that you like cheaper, do it. If you want cheap, buy a Versa or Mirage. Buy a used 2wd Colorado. I don’t understand criticizing Ford because its comparably inexpensive pickup isn’t cheap enough. Or that it costs more than a Chinese truck that’s unavailable.

I don't know why it's so hard for people to understand you're buying a Ford Maverick for $28,145. That's not what you're going to end up paying. It's like trying to explain to little kids buying $1.50 soft drinks in a Glass bottle. Once tax and a bottle deposit is added they aren't going to walk out of the store with the drink by giving the clerk a $1.50.
Negotiations aside.
In 1970 you could buy the original Maverick for $1,995 Yes that that is what you bought it for. That's NOT what you were going to pay for it.
There are ancillary fees attached to almost any product you buy. Transportation charge, sales tax, registration..etc

The above Maverick was Bought for $19,995.

ā€œA co-worker is still waiting for his Rav4 hybrid, 16 months and counting.ā€

You’re kidding right ?
Nope, it's just as bad as the early days of Mavericks around here. A friend waited 13 months for his rav4 hybrid and eventually drove 6 hours to grab a random one that popped up.
I guess my co-worker isn't willing to compromise on options so he's waiting rather impatiently, personally I don't see much about the Rav4 that's worth waiting over a year for but that's why I drive a Ford.

We will never own another Subaru. Way too many issues with my wife's Outback. We sold that, and she is driving my Flex which has been perfect. When I met my wife she had a Corolla, which at 60,000 was falling apart and rusting out. I doubt we will ever own a Toyota again. They have went up in price and down in quality.

I've been driving Ford's since 1982, and never had a engine, transmission or axle problem in any of our personal vehicles. Why mess with success?

Toyota will never bring out any truck that would disturb their Tacoma sales. Someones dreaming.
Maybe not, but they're losing sales to Maverick.

My brother, a lifelong Toyota worshiper, has had a Tacoma for over 20 years. The reason he didn't replace it is because Toyota no longer offers a truck of similar size to his old one.
His last Toyota purchase was an Avalon, which has been a total POS in his case. And the dealer is over 40 miles away which makes it very inconvenient to get it serviced.

Last weekend, he and his wife test drove my Maverick. After the drive, they were both so impressed that we ended up at the Ford dealer (5 miles away), where he ordered a 2025 Maverick XL Hybrid.

Toyota is losing sales to Ford.

It's actually nothing like the Mav because Toyota doesn't allow you to order.
I know, I actually was going to get a Taco just because I want back in a manual.
Dealer takes your option list- note this isn't an order it's I'll keep looking for one being built this way and hope I claim it before some other dealer does. Now you're depending on a diligent salesmen.
How many salesmen are going to put that kind of effort in?
That's why as a brand Toyota can F off, will never look at them again.

Don't buy a Versa, the super low TCO estimates from "the experts" are a lie, mine cost me as much over 1st 5 years as an XL mav plus maintenance package. Plus it's "done" now, it's a trade in 3 years no exceptions car if you really really can't get credit on higher initial cost.

There is a new s10 in Mexico and it’s incredibly affordable I wish we could get it in the us
I thought the same thing about the older four-door rangers but they don't meet us safety standards.
We tend to value stuff like that a little more.

No argument, the Maverick is the cheapest truck in the North American market today. If you need a new truck and are price sensitive this the cheapest option available. But are people happy that the cheapest truck you can buy starts at 30k?

What else is up in the last 3 months? Can of Folger's coffee that 6 months ago was 7 to 10 dollars is now 16 to 18 dollars. What could be the cause of these increases? ALL vehicle have a destination charge. Acquisition fee? Wasn't on my sticker. Tacoma destination charge is $1495 so Toyota has a better shipping rate from Mexico.
It certainly isn't isolated to vehicles. Anyone seen the housing market? There is a massive squeeze happening. That acquisition fee thing is because they by default display the lease price nonsense and I didn't catch it, but posted the finance sticker afterwards. They default to the lease options first because the monthly payment is less of a shock!

Autoline has called it that we already hit peak auto and are in a managed decline now. I can't say that I can disagree with them. Where are all of those "walkable communities" they been talking about. People are gonna need them.

I hate our safety standards man they prevent us from getting anything affordable I understand it’s important but it still sucks

Maybe it is time to evaluate those standards and how they compare. What are the comparable death and injuries rates in places that don't meet our "standards"? Might be an interesting data sent to crawl through.

Well my thing is I can put myself in a 30 year old truck with no safety feature at all and have no issue registering it and driving it but got forbid I put myself in a brand new vehicle with air bags and other safety features that didn’t pass us crash standards
