Hey Yall!

I just purchased the 2025 Ford Maverick Hybrid AWD!(Literally last Wednesday)I am super excited for this truck since it's my first car I have purchased for myself. I just got a tri-fold Aluminum Tonneau bed cover installed on it. I am getting recommendations to put a spray-in bedliner on it over a hard drop-in bedliner. What do you think would be the better option.

On a side bar, I am moving cross country from Georgia to Seattle in a few days and am super excited to make the trip with the Hybrid Maverick!
I prefer the drop in. Easier to move objects in the bed to secure them.

Take a look at the bed after you have a drop in liner installed for a while. Vibration and loading/unloading results in wearing through the paint where the liner contacts the bed.

Yep I had one years ago. Then comes the rust

I also typically use a bed mat on top of the spray in - softer landing for crap you throw in and better at keeping things from sliding around. Easy to remove and spray out any crap that gets between the mat and bed over time.

Another vote for spray-in plus a bed mat or rug. My tremor came with factory spray-in, but is rough and hard on equipment loaded and unloaded from the truck, not to mention knees. Rubber bed mat from Ford Accessory is easier on the knees and equipment and stuff doesn't move around in the back as much. Used my FordPass points.

The bed mat(s) are stuck down with self-stick velcro.

The spray-in bed liner is very durable and is a bit like a Teflon coated pan. Makes it easy to clean / hose out your truck. But double-sided tape does not stick to it very well.

They tell you to sandpaper the bed liner first (just where the tape is) but that can be tricky.
USE DOUBLE THE SQUARE INCHES of velcro tape provided, and/or use some additional adhesive. Or mechanical fasteners IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A BED COVER. Wind can (and will) make the bed rug fly out about a year down the road.

If your bed is covered most of the time, then no problem.

The velcro allows you to remove it once in a while to hose out underneath if you wish.

I would assume no such issues with the bed mat blowing out of the Maverick correct? I haven't installed mine yet but I think it just sits in there without attachment mechanism...

The higher your speed, the greater the chance the low pressure turbulence can "suck" a mat / rug out of your bed.

I'm making up these estimates but it might be 1 in 10,000 chance at 55 mph and 1 in 100 chance at 75 mph.

Drop in bedliners without mechanical fasteners fly out all the time.

Had a drop-in liner on a full size years ago and didn't much like it. It didn't rub the bed much and rust was not an issue but it was way too hard on the knees and slippery as hell. Water would pool so I drilled holes to allow it to drain. With the Maverick I skipped the hard or spray liner and just set a factory rubber bed mat down with a WeatherTech tailgate cover. Have used this combo before since it works great for me. An aluminum folding tonneau cover keeps things secure and from exiting at speed.

Honestly that doesn't seem like a bad combo going with the rubber bed mat (bought with points) and a tailgate cover (which I'll have to look into). What aluminum folding tonneau cover did you end up going with? Any pics?

Yes, used my FordPass points from truck purchase toward the mat ($170) which covered all but $30 and tax.

Here's a link to the tri-fold cover I bought. Unavailable at the moment (tariff?) but it was around $350 or so. There are several others that look the same with different names, in fact the one I got actually has another name on it, Osias. Not fully waterproof but keeps things mostly dry. Seems well made.

Yep, the myth about drop in bed liners being harder on the bed is just that a myth. Here is the closest thing we have to a long term review on the OEM Maverick drop in bed liner and the results look promising.

@icegradner posted their review after 3 years of using the bed with the DIBL for their landscaping company.

So are you happy with the Maverick Bed Mat on top of your spray in liner? I just recently bought a Maverick bed mat but haven't installed it yet. My truck doesn't have a spray in liner yet but I'm planning on and then adding the bed mat on top. Still looking into a tonneau cover as well.
Yes. Very happy with it. Will keep hard sided luggage (or anything else) from getting scratched by the coarse surface of the spray in bedliner. Recommend a hard tri-fold tonneau cover.
