Why does anyone need a keypad if you have a cell phone?
Because sometimes you don't have access to your cellphone.

Like if you need to leave it locked up in your truck.

Also, I'm often out of cell range multiple times a month. It's the same reason I got remote start on my keyfob.

I literally use the wired keypad on my 2023 every day, and the people who leave snide mocking people who want this just show their complete inability to imagine someone with different needs than they have.

You are right. You do things your way.

This my first car purchased since my 1995 Ford Taurus LX wagon. The keypad on the Taurus died after the Ford warranty expired.

I almost purchased a F-150 ten years ago to tow a fifth wheel. Instead I purchased a 30 foot Class A on a Ford F-53 chassis. I will flat tow the Maverick behind it.

I have never had a car before with a smart key fob. Still learning all the features of my Maverick. That is why I ask other Maverick owners questions.

Thanks

My comment about the snide people here wasn't directed at you. I didn't want to reply directly to them to give them attention.

I bet it uses Bluetooth.
Do you have any published documentation to bolster your hunch??
Question, How can I lock, unlock or start my Maverick from 100 miles away?
Here's a little more fact.
Last August I pulled fuse 11/12. I had NO Ford pass access. BUT I still had Bluetooth when my phone was in the car.

I will test it next time I am outside of cell service. I am going to need to test the distance of the key fob because I will need a way to get back in the truck if the cell Bluetooth does not work in a spot with no cell service.

Sounds like a road trip.

I still think a hidden key is the best backup. I also want find out more about the smart watch.

If you have your key fob in your pocket you can still walk up next to the truck and get back in. The key fob will work if you're out of cell phone service. Right?
I don't need a road trip??
If I drive a mile from my house, I have no cell service.

FordPass is by Bluetooth, cell service not needed.
Incorrect.

Fordpass is an app - like any app it goes across cell or wifi to the internet, in this case to talk to Ford's servers.

Your truck goes thru the AT&T cell network and route to Ford to talk to those same systems when it reports up it's parked status, and keep the data connection active with an hourly ping, so it can be reached remotely.

If you need a remote action to truck - app talk to Ford's server, their system talks to truck.

There is no direct connect between phone and truck in that respect.

Until you turn it on and link them, BT them.

You know you can turn your cell service off on your phone - though road trip to the boonies is nice.

Disable Wifi too if near home, so only testing BT. No such thing as cell BT.

not all apps. I have a couple specifically to talk to bluetooth. They can scan for local devices, link, and send and receive messages.

Anyway, my huge reservation with those pads is that with two numbers sharing each key, and four digit codes, there are only 625 unique combinations!

[no, I don't like 4 digit ATM PINs, either!]

as for a mounting place, how about in the bed cubby with a door?

But Ford pass isn't one of them.
