Since the OEMs have 8/32 tread I decided to get a whole new set around. Michelin CrossClimate 2

Asked to leave the three good ones in the bed. Might consider getting a 4th to match and a new set of rims for them. Maybe make them my summer tires. Or just sell them

Guessing by the size of that metal chunk that the tire wasn't repairable?

Those Michelins are great tires; several folks have them on Mavericks, and I had them on my previous SUV. The only downside is you need to rotate them front-to-back without crossing sides.

But it has cross in the name. Thats ironic. Why can't you do that?

If you look, you can see the "rotation" arrow on the sidewall, even in your pic. That tread pattern is kickass at displacing water when rolling, but only when the tires are rotating the correct orientation.

If you really felt the need to mount them on the other side, you could turn them over on the wheel by having them remounted. I might do it once at most depending on closely monitored wear. Many places only rotate front to rear nowadays anyway.

Rotating like that is the same for all radials i think.

It kind of stinks that you had to get new tires so soon but those look great @lostboykev! How do they handle compared to the OEM ones? Anything else you notice like less road noise?

Looks to me like you could’ve just put a plug in it.

I have that pattern on my snow tires, though not Michelins. They are great in the snow....

The directional tires are great at going forward. But if you ever park in a snowy spot, trying to back out is impossible. They have minimal grip in reverse. I've seen a vehicle drive into a parking spot of moderate snow and then can't back out again. Just something to be aware of, always back into the parking spot if its slippery.

I backed out of this with the trailer attached, only shoveling some of the snow between the truck and the trailer, with no issues (one sled in the trailer)
