it's alright, my new headlights come in thursday, i am hoping something in the headlight is causing the low beams to still illuminate. it makes no sense considering the DRL circuit is currently disconnected... if i shared screenshots of the bc,, do you think you might be able to point out what you may have modified?

Do the swap and on the bcm enable all the drl functions . There are multiple for left and right lightsI believe after resetting info the module , you should be good.
a while back , fixing a wrecked xl , I bought a replacement lariat light by accident . Ended up buying the other light to match and got my money back selling the one good xl light.
So used forscan to enable and reset .
took me a couple try’s . There is probably someone better on forscan forum to explain a correct procedure. But dealer could do it too if you don’t have forscan .
One last question sorry! When you mention “reset”, do you mean actually resetting the module as seen in pic below?

I believe that was it , but it took 2 or 3 times I believe in a row while turning the ignition on and off .cleared log , reread the dtc’s and cleared the dtc’s of that module too.
Mine had dtc’s stating drl not enabled on module.

Ah ok. I think that makes sense now. If I remember correctly, you said you did a LIN on the new headlight? I’m wondering if that’s what changes the BCM to stop sending a signal for the daytime running light to the low beam. Thanks for the insight and info!

Hi I got my headlights. I have been changing things related to the DRL in forscan. No changes. The DRL will not even illuminate!!! I’m trying to figure out what else you may have changed. If there’s anything else you remember please let me know!

Hi! Sorry to bother you but thought I’d update! Your advice about resetting the bcm several times worked! Lights working great. Just have one question since you said you currently have a lariat. The upper portion, do they operate at one intensity or are they dimmer when headlights are on? Mine currently only operate at one setting and didn’t know if that’s normal or if more fooling around is necessary!

Yeah it was like 3 or 4 times of reset and clearing faults , kind of bizarre .
Anyway good to hear

Thanks, and I’m back on the path of resetting stuff again. Accidentally did a LIN on the bcm, triggering DRL codes and now they don’t light again. Ugh! I got it working once, I guess I can do it again haha

I actually work at a dealer, and looking at the wiring diagrams, there is a dedicated DRL circuit out of the bcm for each headlight. They splice that circuit back into the low beam circuit right before the headlight connector. So my plan is to cut the DRL out of the splice, get a pin kit, and add the pin to the headlight connector. So the bcm shouldn’t know any different as voltage is still getting sent out, just being “rerouted”… in theory, the bcm shouldn’t know any better, but I was hoping to verify if someone has already done this.
Did this work?

When you say you enabled all DRL settings, did you do that under “easy mode” of the bcm or did you have to change “as-built” data. Do you have any screenshots of what you did?

looking deeper, just changing power output from the connector isn’t all I should do. I need to change something so that instead of the low frequency of the turn signal turning on when unlocking, it lights up the DRL’s… did yours work like in this video?

I also put Lariat BAPs on my XLT. Bought a used set on ebay.

Would also like to know what Forscan changes are needed to shut off the park light function in the turn signal lamps on front. I did the forscan changes and the DRLs work.

But me being OCD and wanting it like a factory Lariat I don't want the park lamp on the front and the DRL on when the headlights are on. The Lariats just have the DRL on (dimmed) with the headlights on. Not marker light on. That lamp on a Lariat is strictly turn signal only.

Worse case I can modify my bulbs to disable that function but would rather do it through software.

So for that, essentially what I did is, I just de-pinned the connector for each turn signal. If you look at the picture attached, I basically just disconnected them and I then wrapped them in electrical tape so that I don’t cause a short circuit. That pin is for the park whites and doesn’t affect turn signal usability because the other pins left in the connector are for ground and turn signal power.

Thank you for the reply! Yeah I figured I could do that too. I was checking wiring diagrams through Identifix (I'm a mechanic) and I see no wiring differences between an XLT and a Lariat. (As far as headlights/turn signals. So I assumed it was done through software. I also looked and the XLT and Lariat use the same lamp sockets with 3 pins and see no changes there.

Anyone on here have a Factory Lariat and can share their AS built? Or a screenshot of the BCM settings in forscan for the parking/DRL settings? Mainly curious how Ford did it factory.

Worst case I can do what 24atlasmaverick did
