The computer doesn't know if it's wet or dry....but if it thinks it's "Slippery" I'm sure you're good. So I would say OK to use dry.
So if the computer isn’t smart then I can use mud/ruts, sand, etc on dry pavement?

Well…..it won’t hurt the truck ….if that’s what you’re asking. I mean, if you’re in a four-wheel-drive truck in “low” and you drive on the pavement. It may wear the tires down faster….but you can do it. That is a physical shifter going into physical hubs going into a low gear. On the Maverick it’s all through the computer. It doesn’t know if you’re driving on rain, pavement, pudding, or a field full of money. 🥴🥴🥴

i know this has probably been asked/said ad nauseam, however, i cant find anything on it. im currently sitting at 2720 miles on my 2025 maverick xlt hybrid fwd, the mileage im getting seems allot lower than most, back and forth to work(96 miles round trip) im averaging about 31.8 mpg, and that from fuelio.. doing about 55-65 mph. the split is about 75% highway and 25% city. how are people getting upwards of 38 on the interstate???? im usually sitting at about 27 mpg on the highways etc, city is where its bumping the average up.. is my truck still to new?
Here is my 2 runs today!

Here’s mine. 2025 AWD Hybrid. Now that it’s staying warm my mog’s have really shot up. Like other folks said, the very cold air conditioning hardly impacts the mpgs at all unlike all gas motors. This thing is amazing.

Thank you for contributing to the collective knowledge base. It's hard for one person to fully explain something.
you're quite welcome. Knowledge is for sharing; hoarding it is obnoxious!

Something like "premium" nomenclature is (artificially) bestowed on one fuel vs. another for marketing purpo
Once upon a time, "premium" usually meant the vendors best cleansers in addition to the extra octane. I think that it's been a long time since any producer held cleansers & such from base fuel.

Same my 22 didn’t like 87.
That calls for investigation. It should be happy on 87. If not, either something is wrong, or you're being sold bad gas.

Decades ago in my '74 super beetle, I discovered that I could shift to 3d at 25 on most gas, had to wait for 30 on mobile, but could shift at 20 on Arco.
🤷‍♂️

For the Hybrid, the Maverick user manual recommends 87 Octane with TopTier additives, included in all grades of gas, if a station has TopTier. Most in my area do and the pumps are labeled TopTier. Exception around here is Walmart. YMMV Check toptier station locator.

I'm guessing this pertains to the EcoBoost owners?
Ford recommends 91 octane but States 'Your vehicle operates on regular unleaded gasoline with a octane rating minimum 87.
Anything lower than 87 forget about your warranty.

Recommends 91 for Performance.
Towing is called out, so that type of performance.

Is Performance best MPG?
Probably good to test a tank.
Then do the math if it really was.

Actually Ozarkbeard has older manual where it separates the EB - that section shown is the hybrid.
Then the recommendations appear to have merged in later manuals, or Ford changed their mind.

85 = 87 at 5,000 feet.

You CAN use 85 Octane if you live and work and STAY in the rocky mountain zone. Even in your Maverick you can.

What you don't want to do is fill up in Colorado Springs, CO ( 6,000 ft ) and drive on that tank of gas to somewhere like Wichita Falls, TX ( 950 ft ).

Which is 580 miles and totally doable on one tank of gas if you drive conservatively.

Since people "forget" and may do this; Ford puts a CYA in "the good book" to just stick with 87 at all elevations then you don't have to make a special effort to remember to add mid grade before heading on Vacation.
