I'm in texas, and got my mav april 12th, so temps here have been high 80s, with lows in the 70s, tbh I have 0 idea of the hybrid system is even acting right...idk when it's supposed to kick on, or how often
Yeah, it's a learning experience. The more you work the battery the better your mileage will be.
And, keep it under 60 on those Texas highways. Just joking!
My average goes down to low 40s in the winter and upper 40s otherwise. Mixed driving. Around town I notice it gets over 50.

The way to get great gas mileage is maximize how much the ICE (gas Internal Combustion Engine) shuts off.

If you gas it pretty good then let off at 40-45mph you can "coast" at that speed with some battery help for a long long ways. But if you accelerate really really slowly up to 40mph it will use up the battery AND gasoline then the gas engine will keep running when the battery has run out.

The Maverick is not super aerodynamic so highway speed really comes into play. In my Mav (and a 2015 Civic before it) the gas mileage at 65mph is way better than 75mph.

i know this has probably been asked/said ad nauseam, however, i cant find anything on it. im currently sitting at 2720 miles on my 2025 maverick xlt hybrid fwd, the mileage im getting seems allot lower than most, back and forth to work(96 miles round trip) im averaging about 31.8 mpg, and that from fuelio.. doing about 55-65 mph. the split is about 75% highway and 25% city. how are people getting upwards of 38 on the interstate???? im usually sitting at about 27 mpg on the highways etc, city is where its bumping the average up.. is my truck still to new?
My truck: 2024 Hybrid, 10,000 miles. I use 87 Octane. I do a 17 mile one way trip to work. In the morning I take ALL highway, up to 80 miles an hour is some parts...most parts about 60-70. On the way home I do the 17 miles on a back road....max speed limit is 45. I've been doing this same route for months. I consistently get 46 mph....EVERY week. Eco mode on the highway....Slippery mode on the back road. So yeah....mostly lower on the highway.....and super good on the back road....but it averages out to 46 mpg all day long. Not complaining  .

The EV Coach shows you when you're in Charging, Electric or Hybrid modes. You can also use it to learn how to stay in Electric mode longer & more frequently, to improve mileage.

...AC isn't as bad on a hybrid, it does make the car less efficient.
So does driving on the highway with the windows down. Makes a not-very-aerodynamic vehicle even less so. 🙂

Break even point is somewhere around 55 mph. Since most "highways" are in excess of this. I will run A/C on the highways once above 80°F.

And no. Ford does NOT recommend 91 octane for hybrids. They use poor verbiage but "if knocking occurs, then go to 91 octane" would have cleared things up.

That is what is meant by "performance".

They never say 91 will boost MPG.
It may reduce or eliminate knocking.
But I also think that is standard boiler plate copy & pasted language there and really does not apply to hybrids.

EDIT
If you can even get FORD's Atkinson engine to knock you've got big big problems and MPG is least of it.

Usually buy Costco gas but in my area its either 87 regular oct or 89 higher oct. On only 87 oct my mpg is horrible at 34-38 if I use 89 oct I normally am always at 44mpg. I don't skimp on A/C but do make a concerted effort to use the dash vents. The vents on the Maverick are the most effective I have ever seen for cooling down the cabin. Use of the Cruise Control greatly helps MPG.

How sure are you other factors did not change. Like weather. Like blend of gasoline. Like ethanol content. Like traffic or lack of.

Willing to bet pink slips on it? Or is it just a hunch?

Look. Nothing personal. Just so many other things are KNOWN to affect MPG in a big way, and expert testers struggle to measure tiny differences based on octane in non-racing not manually tuned N/A engines and the hybrid is Atkinson type on top of that which means octane is even less significant.

I like to have my rear slider opened and sunroof tilted to vent. No turbulence and I'm guessing, much better for MPG's than open side windows. Can do this in lieu of needing A/C in comfort to much warmer temps.

FYI my hybrid "manual" also references the under hood battery, which there is none (that I have found).
What section/page? I looked at the section about jumping and there's a separate section for the Hybrid.

No separate section for hybrids in the manual exists when it comes to octane that I have seen.
