i know this has probably been asked/said ad nauseam, however, i cant find anything on it. im currently sitting at 2720 miles on my 2025 maverick xlt hybrid fwd, the mileage im getting seems allot lower than most, back and forth to work(96 miles round trip) im averaging about 31.8 mpg, and that from fuelio.. doing about 55-65 mph. the split is about 75% highway and 25% city. how are people getting upwards of 38 on the interstate???? im usually sitting at about 27 mpg on the highways etc, city is where its bumping the average up.. is my truck still to new?

I still have not figured out the link thing on here. But, one of the better threads I've seen was posted on April 9, 2023 by a deleted member. Use the search button for the date with an advanced search using "Tips" as a key word. There's four pages of tips from various members here although it's geared to the earlier Maverick dash displays, it still applys. This truck will provide amazing MPG, once you get used to driving to do so. Mine provided great mileage from the get go, but still don't often use it on the Interstate (usually try to stay below 65). I will take a rural highway before the interstate if I can. The Maverick loves rolling hills, most Interstates are flattened by comparison. I came from 10 years of earlier generation Prius'.

So about a week ago I drove from Northwestern WI to the DC suburbs and back to see my sister for Easter. The whole trip was just over 2000 miles. I got 39.5 miles per gallon on that trip.

This weekend I drove down to Milwaukee and back, which was about a 500 mile round trip, and I got about 42 miles per gallon on that.

I also know there are some highway round trips where, driving exactly the same in the same weather, I'm going to get like 37 miles per gallon this summer.

All of this is with cruise control, and I stick to the speed limit in the right lane, so 70mph or lower depending on where I am. If I'm slowing down or speeding up predictably, I just click the cruise control until I get my desired miles per hour.

Highway mileage on a hybrid depends on a number of things, including the road itself. Like on that 2000 mile round trip I was only getting like 35 miles per gallon for a lot of it, but that mileage jumped when I started going downhill on the Pennsylvania turnpike. Temperature also matters in more than one way. Like colder temperatures always reduce mileage, but also your needing to run the heat does too -- since the engine has to run to generate heat.

It all adds up.

I'm in texas, and got my mav april 12th, so temps here have been high 80s, with lows in the 70s, tbh I have 0 idea of the hybrid system is even acting right...idk when it's supposed to kick on, or how often

So running the AC also has a negative impact on mileage.

Running the AC on a hybrid effects mileage very little 🤏 when compared to an EcoBoost.
Winter is our mileage killer.
For normal people who like a warm interior.
Internet explanation. 👇
In general, running the air conditioner (AC) in a hybrid car is more efficient than in a non-hybrid car. Hybrids use electric compressors powered by the battery, reducing the strain on the engine and improving fuel economy. Non-hybrid cars, on the other hand, require the engine to power the AC compressor, which can significantly reduce fuel efficiency, especially in city driving.

The hybrid Maverick uses a phase system air conditioning which means it operates on three phases. Below is a past post from a member who can explain it a little bit better.
Also note that the condenser is a three phase motor driven. If you are more than 2°F from the set temp it will run faster to increase BTU output. Speed of condenser will also increase as fan speed is increased and will make more noise. If you have AC on automatic the condenser and fan speed will vary much more and make less noise as temp of cabin approaches the set temperature.
Also: when in auto set the fan to the max speed you want auto to use. Then if you want more fan just put it on max cool and AC will turn every thing on full blast until you put it back on automatic and the fan and condenser will drop to their appropriate speed depending on temperature difference from set temp.

Not as much on a hybrid as an EcoBoost. For normal people who like a warm interior. Winter is our mileage killer.
Right. I already said running heat was a mileage killer, and while AC isn't as bad on a hybrid, it does make the car less efficient.

And I brought it up because he talked about how warm its been where he was. Like I only said it because he specifically brought it up.
