This is the future. It will only get more automated.

I've been operating jets with autopilots for two decades, I'm pretty adept at using it in my vehicle. It's a huge safety feature, it allows you to monitor what is going on around you far better. In addition, I drive at night often into the wee hours of the morning, where the vehicle is much better at maintaining control and my fatigue is kept to a minimum.
Air traffic is not like road traffic. The Maverick doesn't offer autopilot, either. I didn't say you weep. You clearly embrace inattentive driving.

Go ahead, hang an ankle weight on the steering wheel then, “Let go Luke, Feel the force flowing in you”
The gene pool needs cleaning out from time to time.

Also placed on the "do not try this at home" list but do try it at least once if you are in for a good jump scare:

Live a little and ignore the warnings. Level 1 is the orange warning on the screen. Level 2, the warning turns red and starts in on the simulated rumble strip noise. Level 3 is the same but with more frequent simulated rumble strips. Level 4, the furthest I've made it, actually double taps the brakes as a very effective method of getting your attention. This scared the hell out of me the first time it did it lol

The person who gets hit may disagree.

But if you have lane keeping on it should follow curves.
It does follow curves very well on my Lariat and doesn't ping pong at all. It lane- centers. I rarely take my hands off the wheel, but I get the warning constantly to put my hands on the wheel, so I give it a little tug. The lane centering is so good, I rarely have to give it any input. I tried an experiment a few months ago on a deserted stretch of straight road. I took my hands off the wheel and ignored all warnings, the truck came to a slow safe stop in the middle of the lane. Somewhat reassuring if you had a medical issue with clear sailing in front of you.

That’s sad. My Accord would let me self drive with “Lane Keeping” on for 30 seconds to a minute sometimes.

I drove to Toronto and paid CDN$575 installed for the Bison flip-up trifold hard cover that I'm very happy with. I can't figure out why the Ford trifold and all the "made in USA" ones (yeah, right - interesting how they look identical to the Chinese ones) cost typically 2x what I paid, and 3x when you add in the currency conversion rate. Americans are getting ripped off.
I have a 2025 Lariat. It follows the curves very well.
Agree, with my 2025 I could drive the whole NJ Turnpike hands free and light grab of the wheel when it starts barking at me.

As you are an experienced pilot, you are likely aware of the radar technology in an airplane, how far superior it is to a road vehicle, and the required distances kept between two air vehicles in normal situations. You likely also understand the extensive training one must go through in order to be a licensed pilot compared to the training one goes through to get their driver's license (assuming that they have one).

If you are aware of all of this, then it's puzzling why you compare the two technologies that share a name and not a whole lot more.

Tesla drivers have already shown how utterly stupid and irresponsible people can be with hands free advanced autopilot. We don't need more idiots equipped with high speed battering rams with woefully inadequate technology hurtling down the road, the road that your family or my family is also driving on.

We need less.

Don't be sad, my Maverick does that as well. It's not instantly sending the warning. Thirty seconds---easily doing that before the warning comes on.

My driving is more attentive, because I can more easily pay attention to what is going on around me.

This is hands free driving, not eyes free.

I agree to a point.

Today, it's not a "get in and push go" operation. You are operating equipment that still requires attention be paid to what is going on around you. And with these automated systems, you can more easily do so. I certainly agree that there is a danger to offering these to everyone, where many will not pay attention.

This is merely an extension of cruise control, at this point.

I feel as though the act of driving itself, with one's hand(s) on the steering wheel, is going to provide the highest level of driver's attention. If someone wants to drive hands-free, it's generally because they want their hands available to do something other than driving. That to me seems like someone paying less attention to the process of driving.

Lane Keeping, a feature found on XLT (lux?) trim, will not follow curves well. It will ping pong back and forth.
Lane CENTERING, which is included only on the Lariat, will follow curves very well, up to a point, it‘s actually pretty close to the early versions of Blue Cruise, but without the IR eye tracking cameras, Ford does not allow it to go hands free.
Can both be engaged, lane centering and lane assist, how's that gonna work.
