This is the general FYI for everybody who has somebody else do your maintenance. I was changing my oil on my 2024 Maverick with 8800 miles on it and found an oil like substance on the transmission. I also reviewed the under body cover and found there has been a drip on that as well. I have done two other oil changes went at 750 miles and one at 3500 miles and there was no signs of this during those changes. It appears to be transmission fluid. Planning on taking to a dealer soon

It almost doesn't look red enough to be transmission fluid. I'd double check and make sure that is actually trans oil and not engine oil coming from somewhere above. .

Its transmission fluid 100% and its a somewhat know issue. You have to consider two things 1) undercover masks the problem and 2) most people utilize dealer etc for oil changes. This is likely ignored....meaning that a lot more trucks have the problem .

The fix unfortunately requires the engine to come out. They can't simply tighten the bolts without creating more issues.

I'll add this. I suspect most techs dont even notice it or wipe it down and send the car on its way.
Warranty work pay sucks from what I heard and no one wants to mess with such a big job just to fix a leak.

All vehicles weep fluids. Our Maverick’s are no exception.

my Toyota with 220k miles literally has no fluid leaks, engine is bone dry, trans is shiny chrome.

actually blows my mind. I was just under it a few days ago as I did an oil change on a lift and checked it all out.

meanwhile my gf's chevy sonic had 60k miles, and everything on bottom of engine was leaking and covered in crud and oil / fluids.

I’ve long followed the philosophy that if there are no weeps, then you are out of fluids.
This doesn’t include dripping, excessive leaks.

It’s just an FYI do with the information what you’d like.

One leak was from cooling lines to the transmission:

Inspect the transmission fluid cooler tube assembly backing rings and seals for damage and install new backing rings or seals if necessary.

Thanks for this post, makes perfect sense, looks like a fairly simple repair for a DIY.

In past experience dealers claim a threshold before a leak is considered worth addressing, small drips or even a wet case does not typically meet their standard. I had one repair center tell me to wait until I have a puddle on my garage floor (likely after warranty).

Update 1

I took my truck into the dealership today and they reviewed the leak while performing a recall. They cleaned off the fluid and put a dye in the transmission drove it 10 miles and the leak came back. They noted that the truck went drove in was about 1 quart low on fluid. They believe that one of the seals was improperly installed during manufacturing at the bell housing. They noted that they have seen this before and it is going to be a 22 hour job including an engine removal to correct it.
