Just goes to show they all got their issues, not just Ford.
Bingo. I love when people have simple issues with one brand to only write them off and immediately have more issues with the next brand.
I do feel bad when someone purchases a Honda or Toyota based of folk lore around them. Only to realize they all have issues.

Wow, three years without a fix. That's not good. Doesn't make sense though as other years have cameras as well. I had a 2011 with one and it never failed. Why not just make it the same way?

I would have jumped on a 2024 if available - I was scrambling to just find one to replace mine.

While in dealership getting info ready to purchase a 2025 ( delivering next week yeah) - got talking about the debacle of the new 24's sitting on lots with he stop/sale.
Seems regional reps are advising to steer people from the 2024s to the 2025's as the fix may not be imminent.

Difference between Honda and ford is Honda got them off the lot

Cheers

My brother is currently in a similar situation. He's always been a die-hard Toyota fan. But his fairly newish (and now-discontinued) Avalon has had numerous problems. Dash rattles, CELs, infotainment & phone pairing issues. Latest problem is important parts of the instrument panel display no longer display. It's in the $hop now...

Maverick NHTSAS updated paperwork states a fix in April. Since this issue has been know at minimum since ~mid/2024 with recall following shortly after my bets are they are working on a hardware solution.

I find it hard to believe that it takes them with April timing 8 months to develop a software patch. This will be a hardware fix. They probably tried a bunch of patches and none of them were reliable enough.

I know exactly what's going to happen, because I am an expert in everything. And I have secret agents in Ford Engineering and in Jim Farley's office.

  • They are going to fix it soon.
  • Or they are going to fix it later.
  • Or they are not going to fix it at all.
  • It will be a software fix.
  • Or it will be a hardware fix.
  • Or they will buy back 300,000 Mavericks
  • Or maybe everyone will just forget about it.
  • Or maybe the government workers overseeing recalls have already been fired.
There. I guarantee you I know the exact answer!

Wait second thought that has to be fake news. Hondas never break or have any issues. Never.
Dude, my wife had a Honda CR-V, and in 8 years of ownership we replaced the battery 4 times! For 8 years we were told they didn't know why this was happening by 2 dealerships (the one we bought it from and the one near our house).

Then one of their managers finally told us this was a known issue that was happening because the computer was DESIGNED not to use the alternator on short drives to improve gas mileage (the Internet confirmed this). Apparently not charging the battery enough over a long period causes them to die.

Not only did Honda know about this for years, but then they lied to us. No vehicle is perfect, but Honda won't be getting my money anytime soon, because they lied to me for years!

My sister in law specifically refused to buy a ford edge. She said the Honda is more reliable. She has since had the dealer replace two pistons and a bunch more work all with less than 120k on it. Meanwhile her sister my wife has had 280k trouble free miles on her edge.
lol
Of course I’d never bring this up when they are complaining about the Honda being broke all the time.

IMO I would rather have a backup camera that may or may not freeze, rather then loss of brakes. Again that's just my opinion.

Agree, if my drivetrain works I’m happy.
It just gets very tiring hearing people say how Honda and Toyota last forever.
So did the early 90’s ford rangers and Chevy s-10’s
Those vehicles had almost zero emissions to meet and very few electrical components.

Yes, no vehicle is perfect but lets just say the maverick has not had the best of luck.
2022 MY has 15 recalls, 1 open investigation and 465 complaints. Its not a great look and considering many 22's will be coming out of their 3/36 bumper to bump warranty this year, the used resale market on these will tell a lot.
