I have been lurking but I finally joined. I have a 2023 Lariat Tremor B&O.

Like many here, I am considering changing my factory sub. I have read other threads on this. Please forgive me for asking this. I looked but couldn't find an answer.

Can I disconnect the factory input from the B&O sub and use it as input to a non amplified sub? Use a pigtail connected to the factory connector, then pigtail wires to the sub?

Is there a pigtail with the correct connector you may have used?

You can use the connector as a signal to an aftermarket sub amp if the amp you go with uses high level inputs, but not to just the subwoofer. The new subwoofer being used will require enough power to drive it.

If you go with a proper 8 or 10-in shallow mount sub and put it in a box under the rear seat you'll definitely need around 300 to 500 watts RMS from an aftermarket mono amp to drive the sub properly. Some like the smaller all in one kicker hideaways that already have a built-in amp that would save you from needing a separate amp, it just wouldn't be a lot better than what you're already trying to replace.

people have said that the pigtail accessory connector that comes in the glovebox of every maverick to connect 12V accessory power to the bed harness also is the right connector for the B&O 6x9. it's a green connector on the B&O.

others have commented that you can open up the 6x9 enclosure and trace where the connection comes in until you reach the separate positive and negative leads that go into the speaker terminals.

me? I just spliced right in before the green connector. I did this before anyone told me about the other 2 options above, LOL.

I'm 71 and just want better sounding bass. It doesn't have to rattle. I found a Rockville 6x9 sub to use and putting it in an unloaded sub box. My issue is getting from factory wiring to new sub. Will probably disconnect from the factory sub and tap input wiring as suggested.

Bought my truck used. Didn't have the pigtail mentioned.

Is this correct?

So that we’re on the same page here, you mean you want to remove the current 6x9 and add in a higher quality 6x9 in a new enclosure, without using any additional amplification, right?

If that is indeed what you mean, the new, beefier, 6x9 will make less dB of SPL per watt of input power, which will make it seem like it has less bass, not more. Either that, or you use the EQ to bump up the bass output and then overheat the amplifier because the new, heavier speaker, can handle 3x as much power as the stock one, but the amplifier is not designed to make that much output.
If you install an aftermarket subwoofer, you should also install an amplifier. -just checking-

I guess I am trying to make it as simple as possible. I would rather not install a power wire and on/off wire. As little wiretapping as possible. I have no doubt a separate amp or powered amp is better.

you can install that 6x9 but you shouldn't expect much. the amp doesn't have much power at all for the sub, that's why it's infinite baffle.

Change in plans. Heeding your recommendations, I ordered the JBL Nano BassPro sub. For input, I will connect to the B&O sub input. Thanks for the help.

Post your opinions, because I’m doing the same thing, all in one micro sub, except going a little bigger with 10 inch 51hs10.

If that little guy does you well I would like to hear your opinion vs stock

yep there are threads here with people replacing the b&o 6x9 with a higher performance 6x9 or 6.5 woofer and a couple people were a bit underwhelmed.

Will do. I am planning on tapping the B&O sub input for the JBL input, which I will put under the rear seat. Not sure if I will leave the stock sub connected. From what I have read, the Nano hits good for what it is.

Will probably be a few weeks before it is installed. Out of town next week.

I will definitely be following this thread to see how/where you mount it and how well it integrates with your current sound system and what your impressions are of the sound quality and loudness.

Please post up pics and your review, when it’s done. 👍

Another change in plans. I canceled the JBL Nano BassPro order. We are in the process of moving and going through stuff in the garage. I found a JL XD600.1 I put away and totally forgot I had. Nice surprise! I want to use the JL but thinking it is too much for the 6x9 sub I have. I might add a second 6x9. Tap the B&O sub input for input to the JL. Hope to install it all next week. Will update.
