Fuel Mileage, Just WOW!!!

Made my first long road trip since getting my little 2025 AWD hybrid and I am so impressed with the results. The total trip was just over 300 miles and when I got home the gas gauge said half a tank. The MPG reading stated 40.3 and now the combined average for the truck is 37.7. The speed limit on the highway was 75 but I set the cruise at 69 indicated which is 70 according to WAZE. I was very curious about how it would do on the highway since we are planning a 3000 mile plus trip in a few months and was very pleasantly surprised indeed with the results. Didn't get a picture to show but on one local trip at home I did see the magic 99.9 for one short 1.9 mile trip from one store to the next. I love this little truck!

It’s a great feeling driving the Maverick knowing how great the gas mileage is. At first I didn’t get to see the amazing gas mileage since I bought it when the temperature dropped below freezing and this really drops the mpg. But now I’m also getting great mpg like you. I’m averaging exactly what you are…37.5 mpg combined. That includes about 1/4 of a tank driving between 75-80 mph on a tollway.

Yes I know what you mean about the cold and MPG killer. Same here for sure, just so happened that on the day we had our trip planned the temps hit the 80s. The air conditioner sure worked well and at first it tried to freeze us since I had the temp set at 67 for heating when I hit the auto button. Ended up setting it at 73 and that felt very comfortable and the fan changed speeds just as it should depending on the conditions. We had about 5 different places we had to stop at in the big city so that gave the system a pretty good workout.

Oh and another thing, I wasn't sure how we would do with all the traffic and the lights in the big city. It did perfectly well, had no trouble keeping up with traffic flow and once it even flashed big warning on the screen about pre collision alert when a car was heading towards the street from a parking lot. I had seen it coming and was watching it real close so there was no real problem but good to know that the truck was watching out for itself in case I had been distracted.

One thing to keep in mind is that your hybrid is going to be city-heavy weighted when watching your "miles to empty". It's going to assume that your MPG is going to constant and if you spend the first quarter of a tank in the city and the next 3/4 of the trip is highway, that miles to empty is going to go down quickly. Obviously, it still gets good gas mileage on the highway, but keep that in mind when planning stops.

Nice! I am consistently getting about 38.5 mpg with my 25 AWD / 4k XLT so far. I reached a high on a short 1hr trip yesterday, 51.5 mpg. It was 72 degrees and I used the “EV Coach” for the first time. A one hour trip about 80% in town and 20% interstate.

i drove 1400 miles from Granger 99% highway, most time over 70 mph , cold to warm ( 35 to 60 temp) and my MPG was 26.5 . Pumped only 81 or 82 octane gas..drove 2025 XL , 4WD , hybrid
So your 40 mpg is skewed and not consistent with reality

ya i could get 50 mpg in one spot where HW was rerouted , school zone , everyone doing 15 mph ..but cmon

Don't let these guys get to you. Anonymity of the internet and all that. Don't be afraid to preach your love and enjoy the company of those that agree.

A more productive way of what I think they were trying to say is just to temper your expectations. EPA averages are just that; averages. Some days are going to be great. Some are going to be shite. I, for instance, haven't put a single mile on my new 25 Lariat above 32 degrees so my experience is going to be totally different to yours.

As far as I'm concerned, though, any vehicle that can do all the things the Maverick can and spit on 30 mpg literally ever is doing the lord's work. I'll get excited for my 40+ days, and they'll carry me through the 20-25 winter months.

Back on topic. My 2025 Hybrid AWD averages about 35 MPG. Many, many, many short drives, but often stacked over a few hour period. Really benefits from the ability to use regen when coasting and braking. Weather has been at or below freezing most of the time I have had it. So I expect to see only better things in the future.

I'm stunned you're able to get that much while at or below freezing. I must be doing something wrong.

I need to take a photo next time I go out to the driveway. I don't recall the total mileage I am at for "Trip 1", but I know it is something like 60% electric miles and 40% gas. Somewhere south of 1,000 miles in the equation. When I say "a lot of trips over a few hours", I mean food delivery. So many trips of 1-5 miles, pretty much back to back to back. Lots of opportunity to coast towards red lights, gently brake, etc... to charge the HV battery. If I am not racing thru town, also lots of opportunity for those miles to be at a low enough speed that I don't need the gas engine to assist much.

It is very in line with reality.

I have posted dozens of photos of trips in my 2025 where I have returned MPGs in the 50s, 60s, 70s. I only have 700 miles on my 2025 but my most recent MPGs for a tank was 34.7mpg and included a decent amount of highway miles.

To be honest you are smack in the mid..I claimed 26.5, while OP claimed 40.3. Mid is about 6.9 ( give or take 0.5)...If anything you are smack in mid between OP and I

The point is that it is reality to get 40.3mpg for a tank, well above that. There are folks who have gotten 700+ miles per tank. I don't drive for efficiency and I got 34mpg not even trying. With a little effort I can definitely get 40mpg on a tank.
