Her cousin got a kicks, she went out and bought a rogue like week later, it was a step up from her Chevy sonic but I actually liked it, and I paid 6k for it was paid off

now she owes like 30k overpaid hard.
I just don’t love riding around in it, and I don’t think Maverick had such abrupt engine on and off like the rogue

everytime we stop, I legit feel it on and off on and off. Maverick didn’t feel like that when I test drove. Am I wrong?
Oh, well I was thinking you were worried that having kids in a rogue might cause something like "evolution into dwarfism".😁

Peso hasn't moved in months... Movers and shakers in the usa, canada, and mexico know that its all bluff and bluster.
I'm beginning to think you are correct on that. I dont believe anyone would be so foolish as to go through with this. But even the bluff and bluster has ramifications when the person doing it is in the position he's in.

From a purely economic standpoint, if a country exports more to a country than it imports, the impact of a tariff on it's products is devastating to it's economy. This would in a year cause massive unemployment as businesses close and revenue plunges. This ripples down to domestic businesses in lower revenue and increases the burden on government in the form of unemployment benefits and a decrease in tax revenue.

Like other posters have indicated, many expensive products are made in Mexico: appliances, electronics, vehicles, consumer products, and parts.

Governments know this and if they do not, business owners and corporations are surely telling them what will happen. If recent headlines indicate from the threat of new tariffs on them, the likelihood of Mexico ignoring this issue are slim.

With a tariff in place, sales from Canada or Mexico to USA will go down. If I was Canada I would put a duty on everything sold to the US to make up some of that difference. The duty will make up for some of the loss of sales. This way all the increases are dumped on the Americans. It will take time to see what Ford does and how much the price of their cars goes up.

There is a clever way to avoid the tariffs - they will just barge them in across the Gulf of America....
The tariff is not due and payable until they are imported. They can be transported to a port of entry one of which is at Midlothian Texas about 20-25 miles south of Dallas Texas. It can sit there for hours, weeks, months and is imported to the USA when it leaves the port of entry. If it is shipped by boat to a port then unloaded onto a train or truck which is destined to deliver it to a port of entry it can travel across USA and not be imported until it leaves that port of entry. If the transport leaves the coastal port destined for your ramp then it is imported when it leaves that port and any and all duties become due. If the barge unloads the maverick onto your pontoon boat the duties including the tariff portion becomes due at that time and the pontoon should take it to the nearest customs to be inspected for contraband and payment of duties.

Economics 101 at the Wharton Business School tells you that the Balance of Payments consist of two entries (or Accounts): (1) The Current Account (Exports less Imports); and (2) the Capital Account (Capital Inflows less Capital Outflows).

Under a floating Exchange Rate (which operates between Canada and the US), the sum of the two Accounts equals 0. In other words, if the US runs a Current Account deficit with Canada, it also runs a Capital Account surplus (ie Canada sends money to the US). If you eliminate a Current Account deficit you simultaneously eliminate Capital Account surplus.

The net result. Well that requires Economics 201.

I'm still kind of believe it when I see it. Or at least believe it when it's still a thing 30 days from now.

The issue with 47 and these tariffs is simple. Has anyone read "The Art of the Deal"? Trump sees business transactions only in a "winner/loser" perspective. Which is maybe ok in real estate transactions. You pay less than the seller wants - or if selling get the buyer to pay more than they wanted - then you win. They lose. The bigger the difference the bigger the win. And it's always better to win.

International trade isn't like that. You have to look for "win/win" solutions. it's not just ONE transaction. It is thousands every day. Canada and Mexico can slap their own tariffs on US goods. Canada, Mexico and the USA can all look to replace trade with products imported from / sold to other countries.

This is the entire purpose of various trade agreements - including The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Win/Win business agreements.

But again, let's see if this is still a thing in a month. I'm inclined to doubt it will be. 47 saw what inflation did to 46.

Very little in the world is a zero sum game. There are complex intricacies that you can't just thrash through. Sometimes you need a tweezers, sometimes you need a machete.

I agree. But the purpose - and the best outcome - is for everyone to feel good about the agreement(s). With international trade agreements, nothing good comes out of one sided agreements.

thread like these should not be allowed, period! You know it's stoking emotions and eventually will lead to pointless discussions. True it has to do with the Maverick but it's also a hot mess, especially to those who do not have the brain to control their emotion.

I tend towards free speech absolutism. Most of the internet seems to also. I think almost all of us have kept it pretty civil and rational, don't you?

You haven't been here long enough to see threads like yours going off the rails. This has nothing to do with free speech or your beliefs. Just watch. Give it time and it will happen.
