I'm in the process of upgrading the stock non-B&O stereo system on my 2025 XLT, but I'm stuck. I have installed new door speakers and a powered subwoofer and I
am now trying to find a place to mount a Kicker key 4 channel amp. I purchased a break out harness (and the amp) from plug N play kits and have already
tested the system and done the self set up through the kicker amp (it sounds awesome), but now I am trying to find a place to mount the amp in the dash.
The harness from plug n play has very short runs, so it limits the location of the amp. It seems there might be just enough room behind the radio head to fit
amp (maybe not), but I need to put the head unit out to confirm. My problem is removing the two wires as pictured. I have removed the small read tab
from one of the plugs, but it still will not budge. I don't want to break the connectors, so please, does anyone know how to properly remove those two connectors
without breaking them ???

Thanks Carlitos. My first option was to make a metal bracket to attached to the metal cross bar under the glovebox (similar to what this guy tried to do), as I know it will fit there, but I also figure I will have a whole day (or more) in fabricating it, so I want to try behind the radio module first.
I hear you are set on going behind the head unit ... similar to the lin @Carlitos_92 provided:

https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/kicker-key-200-4-installed-impressions.29344/

No fab needed.

If you do, in fact, manage to pull out the head unit, please take pictures and measurements!

Additionally, PnP Kits does have a 17' long option.

And before i exit your thread .....
Have you thought about how difficult it will be to remove/replace that again??
Anyhow ... good luck.

I did call my local Ford mechanic and he explained how to release the connectors. I did see that the area above the cabin filter door location would be perfect if it was smooth, but this whole Velcro idea is my new favorite. I think I will somehow mount a metal plate to that area and use Velcro to mount the amp. I will abandon the behind the radio module idea. Thanks to everyone.

Curious as to why you didn't go with the Pac wiring harness. They have 2, my understanding the LPHEXT17 allows you to extend everything to behind the rear seat and then back to the speakers for the Pac LOC T harness. Waiting for my parts to come in but how I'm going to try and install mine. Then access to the amp should there be any issues.

To the question, looking at the yellow one, there is a red piece. Above in the picture there looks like a latch that would kind of pull up and back. Movement like opening a door. I'm not 100% sure, but looks like a latch on my Sprinter RV, kind of releases the connector when you open it and also seats it when you push the lever back down on install. Please share what worked when you get it figured out.

Or maybe it pushes down?

I never heard of the Pac harness, but the PNP harness ended up working fine and my understanding is they also offer an extension which would allow for behind the back seat installation. I ended up not pulling the radio module and mounted the amp on the air box , just above the glove box with a bracket glued to the airbox and Velcroed to amp. I did figure out how to disengage the two plugs pictured. You have to pull out the red tab (forward) and then push down on the area that the red tab covered, there is nothing intuitive about removing these plugs at all.
