3AM on a Deep South Florida route with a half dozen Mo-99 Generators in my Toyota Tacoma extra cab i was placarded up, Hazmat level III.
I dozed off at 75 MPH in the right lane on I-75 around Port Charlotte.
Overpass coming up,
My lane was closed ahead.
Umpteen hundred barrels coming up fast.
Top of the overpass was a State Trooper thank God !

He turned on every light he had and his high beams.
His spot light was on strobe and aimed right at me.
Barrels were real close when I woke up. I missed em with a quick smooth lane change.

I pulled off the road after I passed the trooper at the bottom of the overpass.

Trooper came down to me and checked my DOT drivers log book.

He made me follow him to a 24 hour convenience store.
He bought me a cup of coffee and two chocolate glazed donuts.
Once he was sure I had a good coffee buzz he went on his way.

Way back in 2010 we didn’t have driver assistance anything.
We had to be men and take care of business on our own.

If I wasn't holding the steering wheel, I can't feel the vibration. If I am asleep and holding the steering wheel, there is no vibration. Right?
No mine shakes even if I am holding the wheel.
If you are tired enough to fall asleep maybe you didn’t feel it. Or try being an adult and just take responsibility. Learn when it’s to much. If you work that long and still have to drive. You know yourself now. You know you will or could fall asleep, take a nap. Stop acting like ford shock add thousands of dollars to an economy truck just to take responsibility off you.

Vibration and sound is an option in the menu. You can select them each on, or both, at the same time.

I added lane centering and adaptive cruise because I will sometimes make a three hour drive home after a long day getting in around 3am. I think it's a huge safety increase. I previously used lane keep and while it does an OK job it doesn't keep the vehicle centering in the lane over an extended time period.
Only huge safety issue is a grow man knowing he can’t be responsible and stay awake while driving.
These features are nice and probably work for the mid afternoon zone out while driving.
Best safety feature for you is probably a bag of coke before the drive home.
You are gonna kill someone. Your fault if it is just you and your an adult. But what about others?

Worked for 12 hours + 3 hours on the road, and as a result, I passed out for a while. When I woke up, I had no idea how long I had been driving like that. I didn't wake up to any noises—I woke up on my own. The Maverick was still holding the line on the freeway. I took a picture of what was on the screen.

Turns out the driver sleep-safety feature isn't actually implemented. You just get a screen that says, "You're asleep." Why even have this function if it doesn't emit any alerts and just quietly displays a message? There's no siren, music doesn't turn off, car doesn't stop, emergency lights don't come on - just gurgling something.. I was simply notified that I was asleep. The Lane-Keeping System saved me.

I opened up the ford and volkswagen video clips. An 11 year old video clip where Ford presents their system as a message - “take a coffee break”.

The 7 year old video is the same - just as simple a message with a cup of coffee.

I was shocked Ford doesn't have the technology to do anything but put the message on the screen?

Look at how Volkswagen solved this problem.

I would suggest you don’t drive when you’re tired next time you may wake up in a Hearse on the way to the church.

I hate to be the villian, but you put others in danger by being too tired to drive. It is no different than being drunk driving. No way should you rely on the vehicle to keep you safe and being a grown-up, you should know you could have died or killed someone. Be responsible and quit blaming the truck.

Wait...what? 2022 Lariat 1st edition 2.0 ecoboost and after about 45 seconds a visual alert on the dash comes in stating to put my hands back on the steering wheel and then after just a few seconds another visual plus audible alert comes on. Don't know what's happens after that

My point is that when a manager or advert offers you extra paid features, they present it as a system to help the driver stay awake or prevent consequences.
You can make something fool proof, but not damnfool proof!

When I saw the title I was ready for a whole different story. This one was better but let's not have a next time.

How does your advice relate to the topic? Where did you get the information that I was tired? For me a 12 hour day is the norm, I work like that almost every day during certain seasons. Does your post help to solve the issue I raised?

Thanks for the constructive feedback!
I want to make a video of how it works, on a road with no cars. I will probably make a video in the near future to visually see how it works.

Same thing happened to me after rotating 12hr. Shifts. I didn’t actually fall asleep but it caught me ready to doze. It gave me that screen and an audible alert. ‼
I wonder how Maverick knew you wanted to sleep. Did you get the message when you had your hands on the wheel?
