It locks when unrolled just before the tailgate. The locking mechanism can only be released with the tailgate down

That def. Looks quality, but I'm not gonna pay those prices.
Me either. I want something easily removable too so I can have access to the whole bed if I need to.

Lets hope those prices are place holders like the photos for now. With the shorter bed they should be less expensive.
mods thanks for the move.

Plus the Ford ones are mfg from BAK. The Ford Hard Trifold is the G2. These prices are much cheaper than buying the dealer option ($1160). You can get the upgraded MX4 for less than the "Factory" one.

I'm a fan of this design, simple, doesn't use a lot of space rolled up, and it sits nice and flush. The Ford soft trifold sticks up quite a bit and so the aesthetics are poor IMO.

But with a factory installed BAK, you're also paying for the install and a warranty where instead of taking pictures and hoping BAK doesn't tell you to go suck an egg, you can bring it to a dealer and have them warranty service it while you're out in a loaner.

No argument here at all. You should absolutely go with what your personal comfort level is no matter what it is. Saving a few dollars is not worth the cost of losing peace of mind if that is what is important to you. Luckily in the almost 15 years I've had my hard folding cover (self installed) I've had no warranty issues with it. (knock on wood)

Worth considering,, as far as price comparison goes, if you find a 4% under invoice dealer (I went with Tom at Chapman) the price for the hard roll-up comes to around $1040. For me, that extra $50-60 is worth it to have the truck just how I want it from day one.
