Are the viscosities being consistently below their "Should Be Values" a concern?

Nevermind, just read the Comments section.

that is amazing - never knew you could get 100K on an oil change - what oil and filter did you use ?
0W-01, high endurance Mobile 1, rated for 100k miles. Mobile 1 High endurance filter, also rated for 100k. Comes with an engine replacement warranty if it fails. Only $1000 to fill the Mav, and you are good to go. It’s specially formulated for small block turbo charged engines, great stuff.

Not uncommon for over the road truckers to top off as they go and drain and do a full change every 100,000 miles.

But they also have larger oil filters.
But the oil does not really wear out in this interval and topping off for burned oil adds some fresh additives.

Thanks for sharing.
Too bad you don't do TBN which would show quality of the oil additives.
I don't generally order TBN on lubricants that I know well and have established good performance. This has been a good stable oil in several different motors over the years, and is working well in the Maverick.

I’m sure 100k is a joke, but regarding mileage claims of oil, do they consider contaminants introduced during operation such as dirt and fuel passing into the oil?… or is it tested in a lab without these factors?… just my thoughts.

I'm sure this is satire.

HOWEVER...JUST IN CASE.

Don't delay oil changes in your turbo GDI motor.

That is all.

But, I'd bet you'd get same reports with 8,000 mile oil change intervals or more.

I usually go 12,000 miles in a Hybrid.
With great values and good TBN.

Near as I can tell it's based on unicorn tears and hope.

That said, one has to presume that testing taking place in a perfect environment of clean air, consistent temperatures and effective oil filtration.

There is no question that I'm leaving oil life behind at a 5k mile interval.

I'm comfortable with that tradeoff having seen the inside of other GDI motors with poor maintenance practices.

I have often wondered if a 3k conventional oil change would be better than a 5k full synthetic oil change?... I’m thinking it would depend on the amount of contaminants reaching the oil through blow by and other intrusion.

Based on experimentation with different lubricants and hundreds of oil samples over the years, my prediction is that you would see the exact same results with a conventional vs synthetic oil at a 5k interval. There just isn't a significant difference in real world performance among different brands or formulations.

Best way to find out is to try it out and get the oils tested. Each situation is different.
