Title: 🔥 Just Swapped FoMoCo Muffler for MagnaFlow 12255 — UNBELIEVABLE Difference!

Yesterday I replaced the OEM FoMoCo muffler on my 2025 Maverick XLT 2.0L EcoBoost (MPC engine) with a MagnaFlow 12255, and I have to say — the transformation is insane.

🔊 Sound

  • At idle to ~2,000 RPM, it has a clean, smooth rumble — not loud, just present and refined.
  • After that, the sound almost disappears inside the cabin. No drone, no rasp — just clean flow.
🚀 Performance

But here’s where it blew me away: throttle response and acceleration are night and day.
Not just in Sport Mode, but even in Normal Mode, the truck feels like an entirely different animal. It’s as if the turbo and engine have been freed, no longer fighting to breathe.

It pushes HARD — and the way it climbs through the revs now is so much smoother and quicker.
Honestly, I can’t believe how much the stock muffler was holding it back.

I installed the MagnaFlow 12255 — 2.25" in/out, 5x9x20" oval body. It's a straight-through design flowing about 475 CFM, compared to the very restrictive stock unit.

If anyone’s considering an easy, safe, and highly effective exhaust upgrade, this is it.
Zero CEL, zero complications, and total driving satisfaction.

Cheers.

EUploading a few videos — and no, I’m definitely not a pro at filming sound clips 😂 ( sorry …)
But I did record it in a few real driving scenarios so you guys can get the vibe.

Just a reminder: $130 for the MagnaFlow 12255 + $70 for install = total $200. Shop took 18 minutes. Cut, weld, done. Perfect fit. Totally transformed the truck. 🔥👌

Ford Maverick 🔥 Just Swapped FoMoCo Muffler for MagnaFlow 12255 — UNBELIEVABLE Difference! MAGNA 12255 installed

Hey guys — today I had a chance to record three short videos of the truck in action.
The first two were taken inside a high-ceiling public garage (open structure), which definitely amplifies the sound — but that’s actually the environment where I hear and feel this combo every day.
Yes, the decibels are a bit higher than in open road conditions… but the music this new engine + MagnaFlow muffler create together is just incredible.
Refined, deep, clean — never annoying. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

The third video was recorded outside the garage, on the street, under a tall building. Not fully enclosed but still offering some nice acoustics.

🎧 Highly recommend listening with headphones or similar gear.

What you’ll hear in all three clips is the same essence: the exhaust tone after nearly 600 miles of break-in. The MagnaFlow muffler and this new EcoBoost engine have truly blended — it feels like the muffler has become one with the engine and turbo.

We’re having fun now… and I thought this was the perfect time to share it with you all.

Cheers

For those concerned about rust / salt corrosion, especially near the coast.

As you can see in my photos, the golden / yellow tone you notice on the muffler and the entire underside of my Maverick is intentional.
On day 2 of the truck’s life on NY roads, I treated the entire underside, including the exhaust before and after installing the MagnaFlow — with 3–4 cans of AMSOIL Heavy-Duty Metal Protector.

Fast forward 1 year and 24,000+ miles, exposed to:

NY winter salt

rain, humidity

daily driving

EVERYTING underneath still looks immaculate:
no rust, no surface corrosion, no deteriorationincluding the entire exhaust system.

This isn’t theory, it’s documented, real use.
For anyone living by the beach or in salted-road states, this is something worth considering. Excellent product, excellent results.

Just sharing what has worked extremely well for me. Enjoy your Maverick’s

I was going to suggest the same thing ! A sound clip at start up, cruise and acceleration would be awesome. I like the difference on accelration the S&B intake made on my little 2.0 so Im guessing the Magnaflow will be great just hesitant on too much rumble- Interestingly the Ford shop reference shows the 2.0 AWD and FWD to have a front and rear muffler - My FWD only has a main front muffler- Do any of you guys have 2 mufflers ? Large front main and smaller rear muffler ? My Maverick accelelerates surprisingly strong so Im guessing you could easily remove the small rear muffler for a possible improvement.....

So when you say "after that" does that mean just when your cursing its quiet? would be great to only hear it only under hard accel.

I've always been a fan of MagnaFlow mufflers.
The stock engine/muffler sound is absolutely terrible, so I'm considering installing one on my Mav.

I must officially be old since I see no reason to spend money to replace a brand new part that functions as designed. Plus I wouldn't want the hassle of proving it didn't cause an issue with the emissions if a warranty problem came up.
That's what is holding back (and at 73 I am old).
In 2000 I bought a new Ford Ranger and after a couple of years I wanted to change out the exhaust system, but I decided to wait until the stock unit rotted out.
I sold the truck after owning it for 14 years.....with the stock exhaust system. The damn thing wouldn't wear out.

Now get rid of that secondary cat and see what happens. It doesn’t have any O2 sensors on it. Just another restriction.

That won’t produce a check engine light ?
I’d like to free up the exhaust a bit myself.

It shouldn't! Usually don't have to worry about a CEL for any exhaust mods after the O2 sensor. The car can't "read" those mods per se because it's all after the fact, for lack of better terms.

I wonder what would change if anything if I gutted that rear unit ?
Or took it off and put just pipe back.

It should free up some more flow for sure. Emissions will increase, but if you don't live in an area that does emissions testing then it doesn't matter. I could see the removal of that possibly bringing in some drone though. From experience these 2.0 Ecoboosts can start getting droney once the exhaust mods commence, but this can be more of a case-by-case basis.

I've swapped exhaust only on a turbocharged car, and had a turboback exhaust with high flow cat.

I admire your enthusiasm but I expect that if you were to benchmark before and after with draggy or at an actual dragstrip, you might find the results a bit different than what your butt-dyno is telling you.
