Awesome overland Maverick build!! Some details:

The entire camper setup without the gear weighs 700 pound. Still gets 22 MPG on highway (with EcoBoost engine) on 2" lift kit and BF Goodrich tires..

The camper features a fridge, a sink, a portable toilet, and an eight-foot-long bed. The camper also has 400 watts of solar, a 100-amp-hour lithium battery bank, a 14-gallon stainless steel water tank, and a 3-gallon stainless steel water heater.

This is definitely inspiring! Saw this on YouTube before it hit the forum and was ecstatic! Congrats on this build. So many questions, but I’ll only throw out three: 1) What do you do for cooling? 2) And what did you do for Insulation? I’m from the Southwest…3) When building this, did you come across why Ford doesn’t recommend a slide in camper for the truck?

This is perfect for the Maverick. Beyond my fabrication abilities but I would have an interest if this was available in the market. Curious if/how the "shell" is attached to the bed of the truck. Also curious on the impact to fuel economy.

My guess is that there is enough power to run fans with enough tent windows to keep it cool enough, its not exactly a hotel on wheels. As far as the camper reccomendations. I think that was aimed at large heavy traditional slide ins. This is 700lbs, those big ones can top 2000lbs. This is custom weighted and designed for the Maverick while those big ones are universal for bed sizes and usually reccomend suspension upgrades when installed.

He said he is still getting 22mpg on the highway so he is losing about 25% of fuel economy, but that is still pretty good considering most campers you are lucky to average 15 mpg.
