I saw these tail lights on Amazon and wanted them.

I started the install and quickly realized that I have all clear bulbs.

Swung buy the autoparts store and no one had red bulbs to fit. So I figured until I find some proper red bulbs I’m going paint some clear ones. Picked up some red caliper paint because of the heat resistance. I then Swung by my local Ford stealership and picked up 4 clear bulbs. I was shocked at the $19.95 cost per bulb!

Painted and installed them.

I think they work well for a temporary solution, but I really like these taillights.

Anyone have a link to red LED bulb?

Looks great! What hitch cover plate is that? All the ones I look up say they are "Not for Lobo" but that looks like just the regular Mabett one painted?

That cover plate is the Mabett one painted a doesn't fit. But because I paid money to have it painted i'm using it until I cut out and paint the correct one.

Ahh okay I was hoping there was one I hadn't seen yet. It looks like it fits okay. Does the contour of the curve just not match the bumper?

Would Red LED's work?
Yes, but I originally didn't realize I need new bulbs so I didn't look into getting RED bulbs. Now I do need to see if I can find RED LED's.

If anyone knows of a company that makes RED LED's that will fit please

Did your original taillights not have the LED strips that run around the perimeter?
I’m not sure which trims have those exactly

So I actually got these same ones installed on my ‘24 XL last week. Same issue as you with not having bulbs in red. Despite the part stating you can use the existing bulbs I already figured the halogen bulbs wouldn’t be the correct color.

The only place I could find LED turns / brake light was Diode Dynamics. They plug right in and work no problem. Only thing is there’s small tabs on the LED bulbs that you’ll have to cut off to fit them in the socket (as advised from the brand themselves) and you will most likely end up with the turn signal indicator on the dash hyper flashing — the lights themselves will flash normally. This you can disable through forscan.

Make sure you buy new push clips for the tail lights as well to ensure they fit with minimal gap to the body as well.

I went with the 250lumen (HP48 model) bulbs from Diode Dynamics and I feel they’re adequate but I might swap them out to the 310lumen option (HP11) for just a bit more brightness to be better safe than sorry.

They look sharp as can be on the white Lobo!

They did not. I have the 2025 LOBO
Is it the XLT trim lobo? I don’t remember the order code they called it, the one without the lariat driver assists and stuff?
Because I have a 25 lariat and it has the LED accented tails, otherwise I’d buy these immediately to get rid of the red.

I do not think the LOBO is the XLT Trim as I think it's a different trim than the XLT.

I'd pop out your taillights (2 philips screws) and see what you have before getting a set.

I am super happy with the quality of the taillights so far.

Lobo low is based on an XLT, and doesn't have LED perimeter light
Lobo high is based on a Lariat and does have the strips

The pictures of your truck look like they're in black & white 😄

Dunno which bulbs are in the lights but Walmart and AutoZone sell red LED bulbs in many different models

Your Mav looks great!

I"m going to keep looking I don't want to have the Hyperblinking issue with the Diod Dynamics as it would set off my ADD :)
