You would think...but alas, Canbus
there is no such thing as canbus on incandescent lightbulb, what most people refer to canbus is in fact a PWM (pulse-widht modulation) this system is used to extend life of the bulb. it's true that it can cause problem with other type of light like led and lightbar. but if your problem is that you can't have both on at the same time, it's most likely that it overload the circuit, maybe not for the fuse capacity but the computer think there is a overdraw of power and cut it to avoid problem. i have seen that a few time. a simple way to fix that is to control the added light with a relay.

i also remember reading somewhere that for marker light power you need to connect to the small bulb on the lower corner of the bumper.

Where can I get switched 12v power for the relay? I want something that is on anytime the DRLs are on.

Exactly what brand of LED light strips did you install? I installed the YSY from Amazon ant they work fine with my Lasfit LED switchbacks. Check out this link for the proper wires to tap. Wiring info in post #11. Keep in mind that on the XL and XLT the low beams are DRLs, not the turn signals. I'm not sure about the Lariat.

you can use the same light wire that you used there, truck light power the relay on and off and then the relay turn the lightbar on using battery power. the lighbar may draw 1, 2, maybe 5 amp directly from the battery but a regular 12 volt/30 amp relay will draw under 0.150 amp on the truck light wire. it should fix that

The question is......Why? Were the regular DRLs not enough?
The answer; because he wants to. We all do things to our trucks that WE like and may not be for everybody. If making a negative comment on a post, at least explain your position. I respect all opinions. I may not agree with them all, but my choice is either say nothing (my favorite) or explain why I disagree.
So, the real question isn't why, it's why not!

I know it is fun to do things like this, but for those coming the other way at night on a two lane road, especially if there is some moisture in the air ... it will be blinding and make it hard for many to see the center line, if there is one, or the shoulder line, if there is one, like many country roads don't have. Every time I see Ford PU stacked led headlights on each side at night coming toward me or a a tall pick up with up high leds, it is really a problem. I really wish they were not using led's for headlights or more had taken into consideration this situation while designing the vehicle.

Actually explaining my position would BE the negative comment...which is why I only asked about the regular DRLs instead of giving my opinion. It was a question, not a negative comment....and a question towards the poster, not you.
