I can't believe I'm asking a question about rims. I'm not a wheel guy. I could not care less what kind of rims came with this truck I bought a year ago.
Actually I like the steel rims.
Anyway, I bought a set of snow tires and then wanted a dedicated set of rims as I didn't want to take the tires off and on the rims each spring and fall. I thought they might look cool black too. I bought some used steel rims I made sure the hole pattern was 5 x 4.25" (108mm) I wire wheeled them, prepared the surface, spray painted them nicely and bought some tire pressure monitoring system valves that would work with the Maverick. Went to put the wheels on and they don't fit.
Rims hit the brakes before being able to mount.
Damn.
Put them up for sale - then started thinking about wheel spacers - which I didn't even know existed.
The offset of my used rims seems to be about 3" (76.2mm) - if the offset is the distance from where it mounts to the outside of the rim.
I've read the Maverick steely Wheels offset is 35mm (1 3/8"). Is that correct?
So do I need some 1 5/8" (~40mm) spacers?
"Hub centric" at 63.4mm dia?
14mm x 1.5 studs?
Seems a lot - 2" spacers?
After writing this I'm even more confused.
Now it seems the offsets that I have are even bigger than the Maverick and they should fit even better. Do I have what is an offset backwards?

Thanks for that HRG.
I was thinking from the outside or "front".
Damn the centerline makes it much harder to measure - what does make more sense in my situation.
I'll go out in the mornings in the daylight and re measure these things to get the spacer size I need.
Sorry about the long ass posting. I was rambling.

OK I just remeasured and the rims I have seem to have a 2 in offset.
And a little reinvestigation says the Maverick has a 37.5 mm offset or an inch and a half.
So I need a 1/2" spacer.
Thanks.
So what do people think of spacers? Are they safe?

IMO, the problem with 1/2" spacers is you'll run out of stud length, not enough to hold the lug nuts on. By the time you go down the rabbit hole and put longer studs on, you could have got the correct offset wheels.

Some tire shops won't work on a vehicle with wheel spacers.

What about the ones like this that bolt down and then present five different studs?

One of my main goals here in getting tires mounted on separate rims is so I don't have to use a tire shop twice a year to take the tires on and off the rims.
I can change tires.

Check your steel wheels, you'll need room between the holes for the original stud & lugnut to stick up into.

I thought that's what these counterbred holes are for?
Oh you mean the stud sticking through? Well? Nobody has that room. How are these done?

Actually I might have the room. The rims I have are these multi-hole pattern things.
I'd have to get a 5x4.25 and then a 5x4.5
Pattern spacer. This is getting complicated.

An 1 1/2" spacer will work, if it's the kind that is actually an "adapter". Here is one, but it's only up to 1 1/4" thick. https://ezaccessory.com/collections/5x4-25-108mm-wheel-adapters
Thanks but those stud diameters are 12 mm instead of 14 and the hub is way too big.
I'm finding it almost impossible to find adapter spacers with the correct hub diameter (63.4mm), stud size (14x1.5) and hole pattern conversion (5x4.25 to 4.50).
Getting real complicated.
Yeah I looked into getting the original steel wheels - people think they really got something when they're selling those the money they want for those.
But I may have to sell these and buy those.

Some aluminum wheels have "pockets" for situations like that.

They make "hub-centric" rings to adapt a large wheel bore to a smaller hub. Adapters upon adapters...
You might contact that company, I'll bet they can make any size/configuration.
