First-off, let me say I'm pretty handy when it comes to automotive wiring, but I've over-complicated my last install and I'm not sure where to go from here.
I'm installing a set of DD SSC2 ditch lights, but instead of using their supplied 3-way switch, I'm using a pair of these: APIELE 16mm Latching Push Button Switch 12V DC On Off Black Shell with LED Angel Eye Head for 0.63" Mounting Hole with Wire Socket Plug Self-Locking (White/Black Shell): Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific because they're a much nicer looking/operating switch.
The plan is to operate both functions separately; one switch for the backlight and one for the main beam, which automatically over-rides the backlight through DD's circuitry in the lights. I wired the switches so the LED comes on when the switch is activated (SSC2s "on"). When I tested the functionality, it looks like I'm getting "back feed" through both switches. When I turn on the backlight switch, both switches light-up; when I then turn-on the main beam switch, both switch LEDs turn-off, but the main beam does light. If I turn off the backlight switch first, then turn on the main beam switch, everything works properly.
Do I need to wire-in a diode someplace, and if so, how/where?
Thanks in advance.

If they're parallel circuits, you wouldn't need a diode.

Can you draw a wire diagram? What did you connect to each pin?

I was hoping you'd chime-in @Sticks; you work for DD, don't you?
Going off of memory here, but IIRC, on each push button switch, the red and blue wires are tied together, then one blue/red is connected to the blue wire and the other blue/red is connected to the yellow wire going out to the lights, the black is for ground, and the green is connected to the red wire coming in from the relay. The yellow on the push switch is not used. I didn't have the grounds hooked to a true ground when I was testing these by using a 12V power tool battery, but the lights on the buttons still lit as described, even without a real ground; I can't imagine that that would cause this, but not certain.
Thanks.

For what it's worth, I'm here in a personal capacity as a Maverick owner. I'd like to keep any affiliations as separate as possible moving forward.

The pinout you listed looks correct. The circuits should be in parallel without the need for diodes.

The theory is sound, so I'd double-check the execution. Make sure there are no crossed wires or shorts. Insulate the yellow wires from the switches with electrical tape or heatshrink. Offhand, I'm not sure what to make of the switches illuminating without ground connected -- that is weird.

If you can upload a picture of the wiring, I'd be happy to help check your work.

Thanks for your input. It's just odd that the LED rings on the switches illuminated without any ground hooked up. Maybe once I get all of this installed in the truck and get the grounds hooked up, it will magically work the way I planned for it to. Good to know that I'm not losing my mind.
I'll keep you posted, and thanks again for your help.
