Wire added on after the fact at the factory? See Pics.

Anyone know what this might be for? It clearly looks like it was an afterthought. It certainly isn't a clean look.

Here's where it starts.

It goes through the firewall here. It looks like someone took a razor blade and cut the grommet.

It comes out of the firewall, runs along the tray below the windshield wipers.

Then it goes into the weather strip for the hood.

It comes back down the drivers side and goes behind the battery.

It then goes underneath the floor pan toward the back. I can't see it past about where the drivers seat is at.

Is there a dealer add-on tracking or locating device under the dash close to the OBD2 port or under the steering column?

We’ve seen it before... installed by dealership to protect lienholder

Can't tell from the photo what the tracer color is on the wire that's tapped.

Don't know why it would be tapped and wires routed like like that as I thought it's output has to be inline with the 3rd brake light.

Edit: Reading thru the patent, this may be installed in paralled w/o cutting the 3rd brake light wire.
