I don't have a winter setup but I did replace my Pirelli Scorpions before fall last year with Mastercraft Courser Trail tires 225/65R17. These have performed well for me this winter driving through roughly a foot of unplowed snow. A good all season tire at a decent price point.

Well here's a good laugh for you. I bought Hankook Dynapro AT2 235/70R17 and had them mounted on steel Maverick rims. For summer months I am running 255/50R20 Summit Trail Climber SUV 2 on Mach-E wheels. Shortly after receiving the tires I discovered the size was 235/75R17 and I was unsure if they would fit. I found out in November when I test fit one and it did rub the front wheel well in turns. I'll use those Hankook on my 2003 Silverado instead.

Snowmageddon 2026 came and on day two, I gave the Maverick a try. I was surprised that the little truck got around fine though it does slip a little as compared to my F-350 on 37" AT tires.

Update on winter tires for my Maverick. APlus Shredder AT 245/65R17. So far so good 👍.

stock wheels, stock tires, and i haven't had a problem with any of the snow we've had here in the northern midwest or the temps we've had lately. only 10k miles on them so i wouldn't expect any problems yet anyway.
I have lived all my life, 70 years, in Wisconsin. No one in my family has ever changed their tires in the Winter time. If you learn how to drive in snow, there is no need to change your tires. Just use the same tires year round.

Thanks for the standard Northerner advice. When the snow melts or heavy rains come there is muck. I have to drive uphill about 500 feet through muddy clay soil. Those giant 255/50R20 skateboard tires just pack with muck and the truck struggles to escape my property. It then takes time and money at the car wash.

I'm building a new home and there is a mountain of soil that makes the situation even worse when wet. So, these AT tires are not just for the brief snowfall that we receive each year. I don't have photos of the 10 foot tall dirt mound, but y'all can use your imagination.

I've driven in Chicago, Detroit, Up-State New York, Michigan, North Dakota and Wisconsin all during snow and ice and at -18° in a 2wd Ford Ranger on 20's, so yeah, it can be done. It's miserable but clay muck is another thing altogether.
