So my low fluid warning light comes on my 800 mile Hybrid which I absolutely love by the way. Get home fill it up which took a 1/2 gallon. Did they forget to fill it or what. But this was the first time the light came on. Ran another errand. The light is still on. Ok maybe it needs to reset. No problem. Pop the hood. The reservoir is bone dry. Out to the Ford dealer tomorrow. Anyone else have this happen?? Hope it’s something simple 🙏

Sounds like a cracked wiper fluid bottle... fill it and look underneath truck. It has to be leaking from somewhere.

Fill it with distilled water (cheaper than washer fluid with no earthy sediments) and watch for leaks. Could be the hose on the bottom of it is disconnected. You can access it through the wheel well liner and/or the hood (obviously). Either way, fill it up and watch for leaks then follow it to the source.

Mine was definitely not filled by the dealership. One of the few gripes I have. I had to buy a gallon on the road back home to Seattle from Kansas since the light came on after I "washed" my windshield 2 or 3 times. And by "washed" I mean a 3-5 second burst.

Surprisingly, when I got mine it had some of the best washer fluid I have ever used in it. No idea what it was, dark blue, pretty soapy. Worked great but I prefer distilled water so it doesn't leave stains and it's cheaper. Much much cheaper. Doesn't work as great though, so I coat the windshield with quick waxes as I'm drying and clay bar often. Winter is yellow prestone. That stuff is expensive but it works the best and makes yellow snow lol. But man, that blue soapy stuff from the dealer was THICC :LOL:

I was thinking about buying some of this for summer:

But OP, let us know what the dealer says.

I must be old skool cuz I've never used anything other than tap water in my reservoir. Though I live in the south, where we seldom have to concern ourselves with fluid freezing up. I think it's Christmas when I take a vehicle to get an oil change and get a reservoir full of blue stuff to enjoy for a while! :ROFLMAO:

I'll bet the factory only puts in the very minimum amount. How many thousands of dollars do they save by doing this?

Not long after (weeks) picking up our Mav my washer fluid low message came on. I figured the dealership was in a cost cutting situation and didn’t think much of it. Has not happened since after I put fluid in but reading the posts here I’m wondering what else did they not put in?

mine came on at under 1000 miles as well I think I used the fluid once during that time, so I thought it was strange. Then it turned itself off a day or so later, so I forgot about it. Never bothered to check.

The only reason to not use tap water in the reservoirs and same with flushes on the radiator is the sediments and hard minerals that can potentially clog nozzles and pumps. Granted, I don't think I've seen anyone actually report a failure for using tap water in a windshield washer reservoir, but in the radiator is another story. I know if I used it in the reservoir with my well water it would be disgusting after a year lol. I have to change soft water filters every quarter where I live and flush the hot water tank yearly.

I'm just glad they used a bigger one than the Escapes have. I had to add fluid to that almost daily. It was only three quarters a gallon ffs and one trip into town (120 miles) and back with all the bugs would drain it.

@Titleistman18 any update?
