Long ago, in the 60s, the gas station in my town washed windshields, and wiped them with a sheet of newspaper. Back in those days had lots of newspaper to go around.

Yeah I was just kidding. I'm 73 lol. I love news print but they priced my daily a ridiculous amount to get us all to go e-edition.

Sprayaway is a great product and every spring and fall I use it on my home windows with microfiber towels. Always a good and streak free window. One word of caution using sprayway cleaner it comes In a metal can and can make a nasty ding if dropped quickly. Trotter 73

I hear ya! I have found that almost every commercial cleaner leaves a residue and I needed something that would remove water spots. Turns out regular food vinegar and water worked best for me. No residue and it instantly removed the water spots. For tougher dirt, I employ one of those netted sponges and then wipe dry with a micro cloth.
Well it solved my dirty windshield inside and out and such an easy fix !!!

Thanks for bringing up the inside of the windshield. It's hard to get to and the smears drive me nuts especially at night. The vinegar mix proved to be a great solution to eliminate that mess. I should have mentioned that in my previous post as it is a game changer for finding the best glass cleaner. Glad it worked well for you!

If your Windex contains ammonia then you've just canceled out the cleaning effects. Ammonia and acetic acid make ammonium acetate so you could be leaving a nice salt residue on your window if you don't wipe it off well. Honestly, the key to cleaning windows and leaving a nice streak free surface is not in your choice of cleaner but rather your choice of towel/cloth to wipe off said cleaner. Get a good waffle weave towel and you can literally use water to clean your windows.
Still nice and clear and yes it was ammonia free

Can't go wrong with SprayWay! I use SprayWay with blue shop paper towels that don't leave any lent residue. Works perfectly! If doing the inside of the windshield on a cold day, turn the defroster on and get the glass fairly warm before cleaning. Keep defroster on while cleaning. Should dry quick and streak free.

I keep a spray bottle of Chemical Guys Total Interior Cleaner and Protectant under the back seat and use it on everything, including glass(they claim it’s good for virtually any surface). I typically do a second wipe on glass to dry completely, but it leaves it streak free and clean for quite a while.

+1 for Sprayaway, works great, been using it for years and years.

For the inside of the windshield - I hope everyone has one of these because of how well they extend your reach, get into the corners, and make the job easy. I don't ever want to clean the inside of the windshield again without one.

Example of one of these on Amazon, but you can get them for under $10 at any auto parts store. Probably even Walmart.
