The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act covers this. The important part, as stated by the FTC: "The manufacturer or dealer must show that the aftermarket or recycled part caused the need for repairs before denying warranty coverage." That means if the dealer can prove (the burden is on the dealer) the problem was caused by the wrong viscosity or a poor quality oil filter, your warranty can be denied. (in the case of someone concerned with doing their own oil changes)

Anyone who ever worries about warranty coverage would benefit from doing some research on the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act. This comes up so much here, I think I'm going to add it to my signature.

I'm no expert, but I seriously doubt it would be voided. I just installed them on my truck 2 weeks ago. I love them.
