Why wouldn't a generic catch can work?

Hello, I was looking for a catch can on amazon for the Maverick, didn't find one but found a ton of ones for the F-150 and Explorer from a EB 2.7 - 5.0. Anyone know why one of these wouldn't work for the EB 2.0? Like what is the big difference between a catch can for the 2.0 and one for the 2.7 that would be a 150+ dollars vs around 60 dollars? Pardon my ignorance on this subject and thanks!

Any catch can will work just fine, it just depends on what you want for fitment. The ones made for the Maverick(or escape or BS) "might" have different fittings to be a direct bolt on.

Personally, I just splice into the lines using brass fittings, but I'm all function, very little form.

Okay, i figured it was something like that or that a custom bracket would need to be fabricated, I might take a shot on one of these for less than half the price I could get one made especially for the maverick.

Thanks for the info!

Define what a working catch can does other than condensing water vapor.

Unless you live at and beyond the redline, no additional catch can is needed. Just use the correct oil and you will never have enough getting past the factory catch-can on the side of the block to ever get anything more than condensation in it.

As someone whose Wife's 2020 Edge (same 2.0L EcoBoost) had to have the Intake Valves Cleaned (Work was done at 50K miles and was over well over the $200 dollar mark) to get rid of the poor Idle and intermittent stalls; A Catch Can is ABSOLUTELY a needed item. But hey. I am NOT the only one who recommends one (or 2; Dirty Side and Cleanish Side) Many Many Videos of the Valve issues on the Direct Injected EcoBoosts. Only Fix is a Catch Can, or intake removal and walnut shell blasting the backside of the intake valves when the stalls start. And I use the correct FULL Synthetic oil.

Weird - I don't live at or beyond the redline yet I routinely dump oil out of both my cans......strange happenings 'round here, damn strange

Interesting. I wonder if you're pressurizing the crankcase. How much blow-by are you getting? Damaged PCV valve? A broken ring?

Normal, mine are no different than any other EB 2.0 out there. More time on boost will mean less in the lower can, more time cruising at very low boost enjoying mpg and more time idling in traffic I catch more in the lower can. Upper can is pretty consistent. Both also catch condensate.

Consider how the intake valves on a GDI coke up over time - where do you suppose that oil is coming from?
