Why the delay in production

I ordered my XLT in mid June order 1001 and still have not gotten a vin number. Why is it taking so long to get them produced. Have seen they have canceled production dates twice now and still do not understand why.

Dealer stock orders started last week. Retail orders don't start for another 3 weeks.

Retail production starts on September 13th. They are still scheduling retail orders.

Retail delivery starts mid September, not production. Small but meaningful difference, as described by the great bards themselves ( Sting and Knopler) the correct order is as follows:

1. We got to install microwave ovens
2. custom kitchen deliveries
3. We got to move these refrigerators,
4. we gotta move these color TV's

I just read on the internet that they ran out of blue M&M’s in the Ford plant’s break room, causing yet another delay in the Maverick production….

Mmmm....I thought stock delivery starts mid September and retail production starts September 13th and potential deliveries of retail orders will arrive 4-6 weeks later.

Stock delivery is delayed until all retail orders are fulfilled is what I have been told. This may have changed, but it would explain some bad dealer behavior and why we have forum members with build dates having already begun.

As I also understand, ALL retail orders will be built before any dealer gets a car for their lot.

Relax people. New model launches are always a rodeo and don't forget we are still in a global pandemic that is making globally sourced parts and components slow to arrive. Yes the chip shortage. Yes the people in the factories (COVID-19). Don't forget global shipping ports - China specifically where some parts come from - are chronically backed up.

No production dates have been "cancelled" rather scheduling rounds have not happened the last couple weeks. That is not a cancellation that is a pause in scheduling until they get their ducks swimming at speed so they know what they can schedule.
