I put LED in my high mount 3rd brake lamp only then filmed it with iPhone.

It comes on about 3 frame at 30 fps sooner than the incandescents. So there's 0.1 second difference for sure. Up to you if you think that matters (much).
🤷🏻‍♂️
To be fair, @ 65 MPH 22 ft is covered in .23 seconds

Interesting topic with a lot of good observations. But accidents happen. Maybe a car or truck being totaled would be dependent on ability to be repaired. A unibody truck has less strength than frame on truck. The Achilles of the maverick is the rear end. Not a lot of structure.

Mav has same 2.5 MPH bumper impact rating as other Unibodies. Feds used to require 5 mph rating; if you Google "Bumper Shocks" you will see how it used to be done. The only other thought is the Mav has a two tier bumper, top tier is the step which sticks out but is very thin, then below that the face of bumper is actually set back a bit - perhaps allows impacts to get deeper into the truck and contact metal in less distance. Personally looking for a light up Ford Logo to go on the tailgate, would like to wire that to the brake lights...
Are there shock absorbers attached to the bumper?

My major concern owning a Maverick is getting involved in a collision. Wouldn’t take much totaling it.

In the olden days (before 2020) your insurance company used to tell you that "fair market value"
was standard for a totaled vehicle but if you wanted to pay more you could get "replacement value".
Now that that has flipped on it's head do they now charge more for "fair market value" as a Maverick purchased at $25,000 now with 5 or 10 thousand miles on it is now worth $32,000 plus.
But how do they compensate you for waiting a year and a half?

If already discussed...I apologize in advance.
I have been driving an EcoBoost since February. Today a hybrid joined the family. There is definitely a huge difference in braking/regen with the new vehicle. I know I will get use to it, but it does slow down much quicker than an any I.C.E. I've ever driven.
Perhaps I need a "Student Driver" decal on the tailgate to keep people from smacking me.

Most accidents are rear-end collisions. Number one reason for them is distracted driving.

There are way too many electronic gadgets, accessories & screens in vehicles now.

I installed a flashing light on my high mounted brake light. Flashes 6 or 7 times in rapid succession, as soon as my brakes are applied. Short of anyone driving behind me while on their phone, tailgating drivers WILL notice it.

My biggest fear is being rear ended at freeway exits when the exiting traffic is backed onto the freeway. Not everyone notices that traffic has suddenly checked up. The sound of braking & skidding cars behind you gives me chills

Bought mine on the Kahtec.com website. There are about 6 different variations offered of flashing taillights & high mounted brake lights - or both. I had a 2010 Fusion Hybrid with it installed, in addition to my Maverick, and so far, I haven’t been rear ended (knock on wood).

Interesting to note that the repaired salvaged vehicles have asking prices within several thousand of original MSRP.
Then I would avoid them like the plague.

Frames add the ability to be modular.
A bent frame used to be a write off.
Ever see an old pickup or suburban going down the road crooked? If so it probably had a bent frame, we used to call that dog tracking.

Any vehicle damaged more than a little is totaled. You can't get replacement parts.

Had "minor" damage to a 2019 Rav4 Hybrid. Like a 20 mph rear end. Needed a rear liftgate and not much more. Was hit by a "Spark". Tiny little thing.

Insurance totaled it. Plus a little "market adjustment" upwards.
