What is this little black box for?

Base audio has the speakers hard-wired into the radio unit in the dashboard.

The black box is the Trailer tow module.

Thank you all for the effort. I think the mystery is finally solved!

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to get access to low-level sound signals in the back.

Let me know if anyone has figured it out.

As an alternative, I would also be OK with the high-level signal.

Unfortunately, I don't think you'll be able to get low level inputs from the stock radio, but the speaker wires run right down the C-Pillars on either side for the rear speakers. Look for the twisted Gray/Violet and Brown/Green wires on the Driver's rear and the Green/Violet and Gray for the pass rear.

No the inverter for the outlets is underneath the center console.

My Maverick has the 110V/400W outlet but does not have this black box.
