Checked my catch can for the first time at about 1,500 miles and it was basically full. It had an orange liquid in it that looked like rust dissolved in water. I forgot to take a picture at the time but I checked again today, maybe 250 miles, and the orange liquid is back at maybe a quarter full.

In my experience, catch cans usually catch a dark liquid that's similar to oil. This is very watery and orange, smells like gasoline and exhaust. Is this what everyone else has been seeing? I attached a picture of the liquid.

I'm also a little worried that when the can was full before that it sucked a lot of that stuff into the intake. In the past I just checked the catch can at every oil change and never had a problem. Seems like these Mavericks need it checked at 1000 mile intervals.

Same experience. Been checking every 1000 miles and it's the same. Hopefully slows down with warmer weather. Being able to only check at oil changes would be ideal.

Good to hear. When I first saw it I thought there was coolant in there and I had a head gasket leak until I remembered the coolant is green on the Maverick. My previous cars have always been oil colored but this is my first turbo engine.

I'm thinking about buying a the high capacity catch can that UPR offers to buy me some extra time between checks.

I thought about the same seeing UPR has extended cans, but I'm not sure there is room where they are mounted with this kit. I would really like to extend checks to 5k miles, but at this collection rate I'm not sure even the biggest can they offer would do that.

Yeah, it looks tight. I'm going to take some measurements this week to see what can fit in there. I would love to be able to just check at oil changes but I don't think that will happen.

Definitely interested if you find them will fit. I don't see measurements on UPRs website, probably need to email and ask.

Click the drop down. They're 3.5" and 5" extensions.

I imagine this time of year it's a lot of water from condensation

🤣

Got it - not sure how I missed that!

Without taking measurements, just looking at some of my pictures it looks too tight. But, maybe there is some adjustment or something else I'm not seeing too? Let me know what you come up with, when I get a chance I'm going to go take a look myself.

I'm pulling a fair amount in both cans. Not as much from the intercooler as the pcv. I check them every 1k. I have a 22 with 17k on it. I will say, when I clean the cans and the collection material with carb cleaner I'm glad that sludge isn't staying in the engine.

Looks like there isn't much room to play with the 3.5" may just barely fit. The fuse box is directly underneath it and doesn't leave a lot of space. The only concern would be that the filter fits inside the can so it may not be able to slip out of it during removal.

Same thing I was thinking, since it not only unscrews it has to dip down to come out. I think the location would have to change to really make it work.

The only thing that may work is if you push the mount closer to the horn. The fuse box seems to dip down and may allow enough space but then your have less room to work with when trying to unscrew the can. I also don't know if I like the idea of it rubbing up against the horn.
