Ooooooooooooook. So after over a year of seeing people ask what a DORA actually looks like, and folks (me included, posting the next best thing, and order preview page as a sorry substitute), I figured I might as well post my actual DORA for a 2023 Maverick. Most of the Google image examples I could find were super old examples from many years ago. A few people have more recently posted a Maverick DORA here on MTC, but I think it was buried in an unrelated thread that would be hard to find if someone was searching. So here we go with a standalone fresh thread about it.

I probably missed something on here that should have been redacted, but ohhhh well. The yellow highlighted portions are what matter if you are trying to confirm you have an order associated with your name.

They include (roughly from top to bottom of the DORA)...

1. The Dealership name and the Dealership Code (same code for the entire dealership across all their orders)
2. Your order number/code (in theory unique to you within that dealership, but could be used more than once if they don't keep clean records)
3. The Dealership Code again in another spot
4. Your order number again in another spot
5. And then way down at the bottom your customer name

And then of course all the info in the middle that is not unique/private info specific to you, but is good to know.

For anyone out there who wants this level of security and info about your order, this is what you can ask your dealership to send you. Feel free to use mine as an example if they claim ignorance as to what you are asking them for. Both in image format and PDF.

Of note, they are going to make about $600 on this deal. Shows how thin the margins are on a sale at MSRP. I am sure they make more on an XLT or Lariat, especially if a nicer package is added. But at least for my XL, they aren't making much.

Was this printed on a regular 8.5x11 sheet, or (looks like) a narrow receipt-type paper? I bet it was on a dot-matrix printer! :ROFLMAO:

Invoice price is actually inflated due to a concept known as a dealer holdback.

They'll also make money on anything else they sell you, which is why they tend to push their financing, extended warranties, etc. so hard. They can make thousands on some of that stuff, for very little work.

That said, there is indeed much less profit margin in a Maverick than, say, an F-150 or Ranger.

This is actually the first time I've seen a DORA I guess then. All I've ever gotten is a Preview Order sheet.

I did crop the image version. The PDF I think is full size/what was sent to me. But I DO beleive it was dot matrix since the filename indicated it had been scanned and it seemed like the scan was not of a standard sized sheet of paper.

Salesperson also sent me my DORA copy and it looks like it was printed in this same format, as if on narrow receipt-like paper.

If dealers are really only getting that little in profit, it's no wonder there are so many problems, I suspect that 'dealer holdbacks' are a little more than we would believe. In my particular business we get a percentage back on wholesale costs of the inventory we buy each year. No retail business can survive on 2-3% profit.

Holdback is about $500-550 for an XLT.

It can print on a normal sheet of paper....no idea why they are still generated to look so old like that! DORA must still be connected to the old DOS style ordering system!
