Westin bull bar install

Hi all, I installed my Westin bull bar today. Part number 30-0035.

I did not remove the bumper since I already had fender flares and didn’t want to deal with removing and reapplying adhesive tape. I removed all the lower bumper bolts, the front fender rock guards and the first 3 push clips in the fender lining. I did have to contort some to get one bolt tight but it’s much easier than the alternative.

I also did a simple bonus step and plastic welded the retainer that was cut off during install for my bumper. My gripe with some of the bull bars on my previous vehicles is the loose floppy bumper. By cutting up the piece I removed I was able to weld it back to the bumper and retain my splash shield screws in the corners.

The deer that totaled my 2024 Lariat never even scratched the paint, ANYWHERE !
But it totaled my Maverick.

Went in my grill, she was a big girl.
That bull Barr would have done nothing.
Not to mention if it’s attached to the unibody it will send all the energy into the unibody and total the truck.
Just sayin.

FWIW they stopped when the parts count hit $13,000, there were still many more parts to add up. This was before labor.
Everything was mashed up against the engine block, everything…

I had Gap I’m good.

Great job getting that on there!

I wonder if there is a way to attach or weld something onto it that would help prevent the catastrophic car-totaling failure of something crushing the radiator like on Cherokee's pickup?
But, to meet crash tests, the front end is supposed to collapse and absorb impact. I've heard that almost all brush and grill guards are simply decorative, and might actually cause more damage upon impact as they get pushed into the grill.

I like these bars for holding off-road lights, though.

For the most part yes. It’s not stopping a deer but it looks cool.

funny enough the step bars are worse. I like the look of them but they are not functional as they’re too close to the body to get a foot on them. And you have to step over them to get in. And they make jacking the truck a pain with their new brackets in the way.

Here is my "Bro" Rig....

Huh? No suspension travel in front or rear. Stupid-looking tires hanging out farther than legal in most places and kicking mud up all the time. Ridiculous mirrors designed for 12ft-wide trailers and way too far back on the door to actually be usable. A pushbar that will cause a lot more impact damage than it prevents. The totally useless exhaust stacks that remove bed space. And let's not forget the huge fuel mileage hit from the huge increase in aero drag and the amount of rubber flexing all the time. That AI-generated thing is a mess, and you call it your dream truck?
