Was watching some train videos, cause hey why not and came across this Maverick driver that almost had a close encounter. :cautious: Apparently the crossing arms at this crossing have not been activated yet, just in case people are wondering why the arms didn't come down.

Remember, trains always win!!! My nephew just retired from the railroad. He said it is pretty common for a vehicle to cross in front of the train. If you do it, it is probably just a matter of time.👼👼 or :devilish::devilish:

Yup, CN used to come and do talks when I was in elementary school, we got these. Yeah it's still on my desk many, many years later.

"Don't be this guy".....

You mean the flagger who did nothing to stop the situation? I don't think the Maverick driver did anything wrong here and it is a poor example for the video to use.

By “don’t be this guy,” in the video title, I shall take it to mean the flag guy. Worst flagger ever! You had one job to do—hold a flag UP and WAVE it around. Nope, walks on the side of the road, holds the flag to the side for two seconds, and just transfers it from one hand to the other. If I were a driver, there is nothing obvious to indicate what on earth is going on here.

About 2 months ago I was driving at legal speed when the railroad crossing lights came on. I was close to tracks but since tracks were diagonal & I couldn't see to my right, plus trees, I stopped, & almost instantly the crossing arms came down on my Mavericks tonneau cover. After they rose up I crossed to other side, luckily no damage except a little scratch . If this had hit my cab it would had been a mess. I reported it to authorities.

That's kind of scary for sure!

I'm guessing the situation in the video is a similar, it's hard to tell since the video isn't shot parallel to the road.

A guy in that outfit with a flag near the track I would recognize instantly as a non-operating crossing signal. Glad the Maverick didn't get smacked by a 65 year old locomotive.
