2024 Maverick FX4 4K, 1600 MI. Dropped off at the dealer today, drivetrain malfunction, low power mode, wastegate stuck closed. Let's see how this goes .
Got the call. Bad waistgate actuator. None in Kansas City, had to order from Michigan. 2 or 3 days out. You'd think the parts supply chain would be better by now. The pandemics over and these trucks have been out for over 3 years.
That’s fantastic! If your waste gate is stuck in the closed position, that means you’re getting all the boost, all the time. What are you gonna do with all that powa??
I thought parts supply would get better too(especially in your case with the 2.0 EcoBoost being such a common engine for Ford), but we still see it at the shop I work at. Very common parts used in many of the trucks that move our country's goods around can still have a long wait time. We have parts show up that we forgot we even ordered cause we waited so long!
Too bad modern vehicles are so smart, I can unhook the waste gate on my 7.3 diesel and the truck doesn't know any different!
It has to be a commonly used part ot be in stock locally. Inventory is an overhead cost that dealers cut back on years ago. There's financial analysts who have PCs that probably open to a dashboard display of inventory levels every morning lighting up like a christmas tree of stagnant parts and their cost.
Update... Been good for the last 10 months. This morning powertrain malfunction, limp mode, wastegate stuck closed. This is so frustrating! Third wastegate actuator failure since I bought the truck brand new in February '25. They need to call in an engineer on this one.
I had the same problem about a year ago on my 23 XLT Tremor. Replaced the actuator and it's been good since. It was one of things that encouraged me to purchase the 8 year, $0 deductible extended warranty
