Warranty expires 10/13/26 -- what should I have checked before expiration?

I'm wondering what, if anything I should have checked B/4 10/2026. I've had 2 oil changes only 6700 miles on it. No issues, All recalls done. Pretty naive about autos. Thanks

I would have the 12v battery checked. The CV axles will still be covered by the 5/60 powertrain warranty.

At 6700 miles, I would not expect much to be there. Really just needs to be put on a lift or set of jacks and gone over checking struts/shocks for leaks. Any fluid leaks from engine, transmission and coolant. Once over for torn ball joint and CV axle boots.

If doing the inspections yourself is not your thing, then pay for a independent shop an hour time to do if for you. Dealership in theory could do it but they would charge you also for the time and they really are not keen of looking over a vehicle to find things for warranty work that pays them less.

If it's the 3 year/36,000 warranty I would schedule an appointment with a Ford dealer and ask for a Comprehensive Pre-Experiration Warranty Inspections + Recalls. Just get it done before the warranty expires...

Personally, I'd get an extended warranty, if I was you. Get the lowest mileage warranty (60k miles, I believe) and add the number of years you expect to keep the truck. I went with 8 years, 60k miles since I don't drive a lot. Helps me sleep at night. Repairs can be big $$.

Few good suggestions. Mine is coming up in Oct, a 2023 model. 9,6XX miles. Always garaged. All recalls done. So far everything is good…no hic cups, oil leaks, checked CVs last oil change. Look good.

Only thing is that knock/rattle under dash, passenger side. Took it to them once, but it sat for 4 days, never moved, I track on Ford Pass, location. Had to take it away, needed truck.

I would consider Ford Protect plan but question merits over that given my situation these days. Wife questioning why pay?

With all the computer crap that is installed on these trucks, you should probably get an extended warranty. I don't have one on my 20 month old Lariat with 12,000 miles but intend to buy one before warranty expiration if I keep it.

Extended warranties cost more the longer you wait and you gain NOTHING MORE.
The cheapest a Ford ESP ever will be is when you buy your truck.

I'm aware the price goes up. Ford has been telling me this on a very frequent schedule. I'm like the OP. I prefer to not buy something I won't use. Chances are 70/30 I won't keep the truck which is really a car with a bed even though I enjoy the ride. I have a list of the 50+ vehicles I have owned and most did not have an extended warranty. None of them required a major repair so I saved big bucks over the years. The computer crap is a game changer for me. To the OP; extended warranty is a crap shoot.

Maybe some of these computers were installed to enrich Ford through the service department and extended warranties.

I went over my list of vehicles and I need to clarify one of them. The 70 SS Chevelle I blew up mentioned elsewhere on this site (no. 6 rod bearing), Cost me nothing. I sold it for what I paid for it with the blown engine to Mark B. I gave him a 454 engine that I acquired for free in case the block was damaged. I had a lot of fun in that car.

He overhauled the old engine and sold the spare. He thought the hood pins were for looks and didn't install them for the test drive. The hood ripped loose from the hinges and landed way behind the rear of the car doing 90+ miles an hour! If cars could talk.....

I was just going by the information from your previous post.
Even if you bought a Ford backed ESP Warranty the day you bought your truck. and decided to not keep it. The remaining portion of your warranty is refundable.

I am in same boat, expires at the end of September. I thought I was low mileage age 13xxx lol.

I am having this done, since they will cost money out of warranty:

• TSB 24-2317 – Dash rattle for rattle in forward dash/defrost vents near windshield
• SSM 54785 – ABS/ACCM software update for constant battery saver notifications and interior lights not illuminating.
