My husband passed away September, 2024. In July we had taken possession of a new 2024 poppy red Maverick hybrid. Until then, I had been driving a series of Priuses and the one I had then was showing wear. He was driving his old Tacoma, and had fallen in love with the Maverick. Now it is my only vehicle and I am an old urbanized woman (living in a rural area) and had very little truck driving experience. Since I am working with a home health agency part-time, truck is great for the back roads I use a good deal, but it isn't so flexible for parking and maneuvering. My poor pretty truck has an inaugural set of ugly dents caused by my parking deficiency. Also, it was easy to stay straight on the road with the Prius, much harder with the truck. (Definitely doesn't like me steering with my knees).

All that being said, if I try to be a better driver (and not so easily distracted) and hone my parking skills, it will all be ok. My question is (yes, I do have one!)--any women Maverick drivers out there, with or without issues?
Female driver here. No issues in the 6 months I’ve had it. You can do it!

Another lady Mav owner here. I love mine, but it's not my first truck. I had a GMC Sonoma about 15 years ago, the one with the little "jump seat" in the back. I don't find it terribly difficult to park, but I also drive my Dad's F150 occasionally.

Your driving experience and your finding a truck dificult isnt because of being a woman. Its your specific driving experience. You said it when you stated you are attempting to be a better driver. I am a woman. I grew up on a farm/ranch. I've driven an old one ton with manual transmisdions, heavy clutch, and no power steering. I've driven tractors. I've driven SUVs. I've driven full size trucks. I've driven full size cars and little sports cars. My experience with my Maverick is its one of the easiest and safest vehicles I've ever driven, car or truck.

I am a senior citizen according to most but a youngster at heart also female. I just moved on from a 2016 Ford F150 extended cab to a new 2026 Maverick Hybrid Xl.. I loved the F150 and never had any problems. The truck was getting too big for me now that I am older.

I decided to look into a Maverick for many reasons and not expecting to buy a Hybrid.
I chose the base model because I wanted my own canvas to build the truck I desired. I have had the truck 1 month and have noticed what you are experiencing. I thought since I went from a much larger truck to the Maverick there was a learning curve. The safety features are nothing I have used before but I am adapting which makes the truck even better. Parking is a breeze now since I don't have to park on the out skirts of the lot anymore.

i know i have had it only a month but expect another 10 yr. love affair with my new truck.

Good luck to you and keep your hands on the wheel.

I got my first dent after about 3 years.
Backed into a post at an oblique angle that hit the rear tire well. That post was only 2 and a half feet tall.

My wife was there. She thought I'd freak out. I didn't react at all. Surprised her.

It's a truck. It is meant to be used and eventually,... used up.

I've not got the time to worry about little things.

This is the truck that drives (mostly) like a car. I don't think there is a better choice if you want a truck bed.

Sorry for your loss.

Don't feel bad! After almost 4 years, I still cannot get into a parking space straight, much less parallel park. My previous car was a VW Beetle that I drove for 20 years.

Actually...I've found that the Maverick is one of the easiest, strait-tracking knee drivers I've ever driven. SOOOO much easier to knee drive than ANY vehicle I have ever owned. Not that I do it alot...but it's hard to eat a Jersey Mike's Turkey/Provolone with one hand. :teehee::teehee::teehee:

My wife daily drives our Mav to work. It's got one wheel with a bit of curb rash on it from her, one from me.

I am a female Maverick owner, and I have no problems driving it.
My wife doesn't have any trouble driving hers, either.

She just sticks her husband behind the wheel and relaxes in the passenger seat . . .

I've driven an old one ton with manual transmisdions, heavy clutch,
I had a girlfriend in high school whose father tried to teach her to drive a manual in his truck (so probably a 70s model, or even a 60s).

I didn't go so well--she was short, and just didn't weigh enough to put the clutch!

She wa strong enough, but instead of it going up, she went down!

Actually...I've found that the Maverick is one of the easiest, strait-tracking knee drivers I've ever driven.
knees?

Wow. I think it would be my upper thighs . . .
