Warehouse deal Infinity speakers - mystery solder mess

Bought a pair of Infinity Reference 6532EX at $80 ($CAD), took a chance with warehouse deals... worst case its free returns. Anybody can tell me what's going on with this mess? I intend to clean up the solder, but is the cap added by previous customer?

Punch the numbers on the "cap" into a Google search and see what comes up. My best guess is they were trying to make a crossover.

That looks standard... my guess is they soldered in the feed wires and made a mess of it, then removed them before returning.

i Take them back and get a different pair. Not a factory job.

I think your right, I just found a pic of the back of the speaker on Crutchfield's site. The cap should be there.
