Hi everyone,

I put a downpayment on a dealer ordered Maverick about a month ago now. It physically arrived at the dealership about 3 weeks ago but I haven’t been able to pick it up because the dealership still hasn’t received the Manufacturer’s Statement/Certificate of Origin from Ford.

I don’t mean to sound impatient, but I feel like 3 weeks is a long time to wait on a document. My salesman has no updates, just keeps telling me that he’s still waiting. I’ve spoken to 4 different people at Ford Customer Service/Ford Maverick Marketing Team and no one has been able to help me.

Is waiting my only option?

Yes, the dealership can't sell without that. You won't be able to register the vehicle. These usually come to the dealership well before the vehicle arrives, so I don't know what happened in this case. It may have just been lost in the mail?

Wonder if it’s actually due to the Fuel Tank recall and they miss understood the issue.

Does it have a SIBL?

I was dealing with an MCO issue, the date on my MSO that I finally got was 11/19/2024 which is when the build started. Check you local laws, in NC, the statutes state they must provide that MCO or title at the time of the sale. However, it does have a stipulation that the dealer can inform you in writing that they don't have the MCO available and give you a signed affidavit. You can start around NC 20.72 I think to read through it. You should have the same in your state. But in that case, you'll need a temp tag or something till that comes in. However, do not expect the dealer or Ford for that matter to know anything about your laws and in your case, there is nothing that forces them to sell it and Ford could care less about you, they'll tell you the dealer is an independent entity, even the fact is you are purchasing a Ford and probably could care less about a dealer, they just force you to do so to purchase a Ford vehicle. If you really want it, start trying to find the owner and keep making noise and calling Ford. Maybe they'll get to the point where they'll decide to actually do their jobs instead of ignoring you. But I would start searching other dealers. I did that when mine comes in and there are up to 1600 off even hybrids and in these area within 500 miles auto trader showed over 1300 2025's listed. (Not sure how many were actually on the lot.) Others are out there, shop around and good luck. It's absolutely unacceptable how over inflated these got and the hassle and games you have to go through at most any car dealership anymore.
