Send in Master Chief from "Halo" to make the call..............MAKE ALL USB PORTS TYPE B AGAIN. OR FOR THE FIRST TIME IF THEY WEREN'T BEFORE! I DON'T KNOW MY USB HISTORY! TYPE B MASTER RACE! TYPE B FOREVER!
Seriously though... have you ever had an issue with a Type B connector? Those things are indestructible. Now if they could only make the printers they power a little better...
Don't look behind the curtain. From what I recall, it is a USB-C to USB-A adapter inside that housing (on the Maverick).I'm astonished that it's even possible to cram that much current thru those tiny connectors.
I had a nice USB A-to-C cable from Amazon Basics that developed an internal short at the C connector and started to melt down. Not all that surprised. There's not even enough room internally to properly terminate the wiring in those things.
Granted, the USB-C connector is not as durable as some others, but it is a highly versatile port that offers much more functionality than your standard USB port such as data transfer, power delivery, ethernet, video output, audio output, and more.MAKE ALL USB PORTS TYPE B AGAIN. Type C ports? Same thing as any type A port. It's just the newest USB connector. On the Maverick only for connecting a phone for Carplay or Android auto or charging. Also you can connect a USB drive with audio files to play back.Specifically what are they used for, can be used for, if not to just charge a cell phone.
Far more power goes through smaller connectors in other components in a computer than what goes through a USB port, so it's not astonishing at all.I'm astonished that it's even possible to cram that much current thru those tiny connectors.

That would be through Carplay or Android Auto. What about a map, say google map displayed on the screen from a phone.
